You too? See above. We should hang out…and kill people.
Just a quickie before bed…will respond to PMs and such later…
So… since the weather is getting nicer round here, and I have managed to get to the gym three days in a row, I am feeling good and would like to end my week on a positive note by reflecting on the cool shit that I think is awesome at the moment.
FYI: This semester, my work week starts on Tuesday so I consider Monday the end of the week. So here goes…in no particular order:
-
Sterling Cab. Good bang for the buck!
-
My George Forman Grill (V-day present from the man. Now normally you guys pull shit like that and you will get hit over the head with it, but I am a different kinda gal and honestly after almost 16 years, just the fact that he gets me shit that I like is wonderful. Of course after all that, I am still female and never happy. I would have preferred the larger one as I cook in bulk for the week. haha)
-
Men who don’t realize just how hot they really are.
-
Students who take your class even when it is not required for their majors and hang in there even when it gets tough even though they could still drop it.

-
Seeing your best friend from gradeschool after a million years and knowing that he is doing awesome, 'cause he’s a fucking ROCKSTAR!!!
Night night.

I don’t know if you can get it around your parts or not, but my new favourite is a Spanish Monastrell called La Casona. Here it retails for just under $9, and it is well-balanced, flavourful, easy-drinking, and delicious!
Unassisted Chins / supersetted with bicep cable curls - this is nuts. Must try.
Doc, your workouts rock. 70 on the Bent over row is good stuff. Sounds good!

sounds like a good “happy list” to me. what classes do you teach (if you don’t mind me askin of course…)
T: Yup I’m a Doc, well was… I gave up practicing to teach college. More fun. The upper bod will come, just as the lower will for me ![]()
Oh, I have an article for you that you will find interesting…will post in your log later tonight/tomorrow.
As far as previous training goes…I just came off of full body circuit training and before that traditional push/pull splits.
MIM: No injury per say, just have trained in the past like a stereotypical douch gym guy. All upper body and no legs. Haha!
HI HUNGRY!!
RBlue: Thanks for the rec! Good vino info is ALWAYS welcome ![]()
Masch: Yeah, that superset sucks royally, especially since it is my last set. Thanks for the kind words they truly help out the motivation!
nlmain: Thanks for stopping by! I teach mostly general bio and biochemistry. I totally <3 my job (except the administrative BS).
blegh…you said biochem. general bio, however = good stuff. ![]()
awesome to hear that you <3 your job…that seems hard to come by nowadays. looking forward to your journal.
i’m guessing you are referring to the Sterling Napa Valley Cab as a good bang for the $ and i concur. (always at costco, another great buy there is the Merryvale Cab).
Sterling has some great reserves and special varietals i’m fond of. not sure where you are located but that winery is a great one to visit. the tram ride definitely sets it apart from the pack and the self guided tour is great.
FINALLY got my ass into the gym to train today. Been a crazy fucking week tying up loose ends so that I might enjoy my break. Haha doubtful.
Legs
Back Squats: 8 sets drop reps and increase weight every set. Getting a feel for the weights now.
2 sets bar only for 20reps
55lbs for 15
65 for 12
75 for 10
80 for 8
90 for 6
100 for 4 (getting there!)
Bench step-ups with DBs in hand (I fucking hate these, I would rather do lunges or bulgarian splits but my knee disagrees. Feels like the medial meniscus, never had it assessed though. Any replacements that my knee wouldn’t mind please shoot my way).
2sets 17.5s for 8
2sets 20s for 8
Leg exts.
2sets 60lbs for 10
2sets 65lbs for 8
Single leg hammie curls
2sets 25 for 10 each side
2sets 30 for 8
Got the week off. We will see how much of it I get to enjoy. I am already behind ![]()
even stationary lunges hurt? that sucks!!
sometimes my knee screams at me to stop, so I stretch it out move around and try again…and voila! but if you have to do step ups you might enjoy a barbell instead…then again holding the dbs could be good for your grip!

Hi Doc, happy to follow along. And just so you know, I am stealing the above quote for my FB page. So true!
