honest answer - no.

However, you offer cogent arguments filled with overarching factoids that are imbued with a negative tone as if it is only to incite discussion, or to initiate a differing line of thought, presented as if to offer discussion more than to make a hyperbolic point.

I thought that had no place here in PWI…

(sigh)

A+ on the vocab in that sentence Edgy. Shit. I’m impressed.

Oh, Jesus…

I was so on your side AC, until this statement.

I appreciated you defending Unions against the haters, and even your stance on some items outside of the union issue, but for you to admonish persons for making blanket statements that attach a negative light to unions, you then do it yourself?

Bad Chicken…
It’s Unions like the Teamsters that give the rest of us a bad name. How is speaking the truth casting a negative light? I didn’t say all unions, I said Teamsters unions… And EVERYONE knows they are controlled by the Mob… I knew that when I was a first year apprentice…

Lmao… This paragraph here is you doing everything you’re whining and complaining that I supposedly did.

Priceless.

Whatever dude. I made some general statements, you attacked my work ethic, my ability to lead, my attire, my intelligence and my politics. You made it personal.

Again, if people agree with you that I did take your stated position out of context, I’ll be the first to apologize. But if you can’t see the fact you are doing it here… I don’t know what to tell you.

Here’s something from 2013.

Serious question: if you are a teamster and are trying to clean up your image, why do you guys keep electing people with Mafia connections? Do they intimidate you? Or do most of your membership not bother to show up for meetings (and therefore let a minority control the way your dues are spent)?

I’m not trying to be a dick here, but as a union member, I get painted with that brush too… And frankly, it pisses me off when I hear about it.

You can attack my position all day long, beans - and I won’t bat an eye. You attacked ME!

EDIT: If you can’t see the difference, then we are done here.
angry chicken wrote:

Quote where I did this. And then quote my further expansion of the fact it was the proverbial you, which was obvious due to the very first sentence in the post you’re more likely than not referring to.

I don’t know if you’re trying to play victim here, or just can’t handle the fact I think your position is wrong.
angry chicken wrote:

I’m not a teamster, just a craft union member like yourself (Millwright). Just trying to keep it all in context.
Sure.
if you speak on the job, like you speak here, you are in fact, a cancer to morale.
I said several times that this is a message board and not a jobsite
It isn’t like you’d be the only one. In fact I’m sure there are plenty of people who are like this.
Judge much?
We get it, you’re pro-union.
Awesome. I’m glad it’s working for you.
Actually, I’ve come off pretty anti-union, with the exception of craft/trade unions. Thanks for paying attention.
What you’re saying here is a philosophical approach that even if you don’t know it, effects everything you do, from your day to day work habits down to the way you dress when you show up.
Now you’re talking to ME from your high fucking horse telling me I don’t know how to dress, don’t know how to act, and have shitty work habbits? Fuck you!
This notion that management is just itching for the opportunity to fuck you is collectivist, leftist, Marxist nonsense.
Now you call me a fucking communist
No, you’re not going to be paid more than you’re worth, nor should you be.
Here you tell me I’m not worth a fuck nor SHOULD I be

Here you mischaracterize every thing I write
I’ve never been a VICTIM (thanks for calling me a victim) a day in my life. As a hard working man who’s overcome more bullshit in life than most people can imagine and has overcome it through HARD FUCKING WORK, your gross mis-charaterization of my work ethic and flippant remarks about my fire ability happened to offend the living SHIT out of me.
angry chicken wrote:

So I can just sit here and claim you’re taking that all out of context right? Because, a lot of it, you are.

In fact you are doing the very thing with my posts you claim to be so against other people doing. Cherry picking, ignoring the fact I clearly stated the post you got most of those from was the proverbial you, ignored the very opening of that post that outlines this, etc.

You may be offended, for which I apologize, but your guilty of the very same “debate tactics” you rally against in this very thread.
angry chicken wrote:

Hence my use of the word “if”.

Judge much?
Sure. Just like you judged management throughout the thread, and non-trade unions.
Actually, I’ve come off pretty anti-union, with the exception of craft/trade unions. Thanks for paying attention.
I wouldn’t agree, and I’ve read all your posts. But this is a matter of opinion.

High horse? Okay… I guess.
Don’t know how to dress? Um, not even close to what I typed. I said effects. You took that to be derogatory. I didn’t.
don’t know how to act? I didn’t say that either. I said effects.
Shitty work habits? Nope again. I said effects.

Looks like three strikes right there.

Nope, I called the notion a Marxist idea. Weren’t you complaining about reading comprehension and “paying attention?” Note the word notion.

I didn’t call you that either.

It seems like everyone for union is in one and everyone against union is not in one. Let’s all join unions and the problem is solved…

AC you make such statements extremely often - along the lines of “lucky this isn’t in person”

it is not a good look, aren’t you in your 40s now?

it never appears in jest either - would you really seriously assault someone who called you a Marxist?

and before you accuse me of trolling/“hating” or something - maybe it’s just an observation that you could use to help you in future/your life in general.
I’ve only seen him do it like twice. That in no way constitutes “extremely often”

Honestly, no not at first because of how it sounded, but he did clarify next and you sort of didn’t let the original version go from my perspective. You guys have very different personal experiences with companies, which color the view you have. And I have a bit of each side in my personal experiences.

It doesn’t matter really because I like both you guys and I’m not here to try to call anybody out on the scorecard. In any case, this is just an internet misunderstanding. Once it gets heated both people start resorting to the things they called others on in frustration so from my position it doesn’t even matter anyways lol. The internet is the Internet!

The bottom line is I think you guys have very different posting styles and you both post in fairly overarching themes. That in itself lends difficulty to interpreting the other’s posts. Besides which AC like to rant–he posts very often in hyperbolic rants as a way to blow of steam and/or make points, and I like that about him. It does however really lend some easy avenues of attack positionally.

Just my .02

fair enough

despite my join date ive read this board for many years and id say ive seen it around a dozen times from him

even if it’s “only” twice an anonymous man in his 40s openly threatening violent assault against another man via an internet message board for something like “calling me a Marxist” says ALOT about their character imo.

Beans,

I don’t have time to argue this whole thing, but let’s drill down on ONE sentence, shall we?

You wrote, “I don’t know if you’re trying to play victim here, or just can’t handle the fact I think your position is wrong.”

So I get pissed that now, on top of all of the other insults you’ve leveled at me, you call me a victim. But when I point that out…

You reply with, “I didn’t call you that either”.

I don’t know what planet you live on, but in MY little world, when you offer a choice between me playing a “victim” and a “little bitch who can’t handle someone thinking I’m wrong”, THAT’S A FUCKING INSULT…

But “technically” you’re right - you didn’t call me a victim. You made a passive aggressive observation of something you don’t know, and offered two very disrespectful choices… I mean, how could I POSSIBLY get pissed off about that? I mean, after all, you never called me outside of my name, right?

You can take your “technicality” and shove it up your ass. You know you went out of your way to disrespect me personally and not my argument. Even if you don’t have the stones to publicly admit it. You’re just a clever little asshole who won’t come out and say something directly. See that? I called you an asshole. I admit it. I wrote it plain as day.

What I DIDN’T write was, “I don’t know if you’re trying to be an asshole here, or if you’re just a weak little bitch who can’t say something directly”. I mean, if I wrote that, you wouldn’t be offended AT ALL, would you? Why should you be? I never called you a name, did I? I have plausible deniability… “I don’t know why Beans is so upset, I mean, it’s not like I called him an asshole or anything - he’s just overreacting”.

No, Beans, I didn’t write that. I CALLED you an asshole plain as day. Cuz I’m not some sophisticated little internet warrior. I’m a man and I speak my mind, and I KNOW when someone is disrespecting me. And that “someone” was YOU…
jasmincar wrote:

Unions seem to be the way to go if you’re not going to college or start your own business. And if you’re a mediocre student it’s probably a better idea anyway, and you’d probably end up with a more fulfilling and interesting job.

No doubt I’d be doing my hardest to join one of the better unions for high-skilled trades. Good benefits, good pay, can’t be replaced on a whim. You can’t fault people for looking out for themselves and their families. As an office nerd that has to constantly stretch tight hips from Excel jockeying, I appreciate knowing the elevators I ride in and the electricity systems in my apartment building in DC (thanks AC!) weren’t installed by some clowns that don’t give a shit and have no pride in their work, or concern for consequences of poor work.

These comments have nothing to do with the arguments over the past few pages.
