Transgender BS has precluded the downfall of ancient societies
In general, there is in places where jobs are available. If we exclude wars and pogroms, for the last 200 years human migration patterns were largely dictated by search for employment. Sure, tourism, second homes/rental investment, WFH and maybe have an effect on that, but that’s how things are. Otherwise everybody would be living lakeside/seaside with stunning vistas.
And it’s a simple equation - you’ve got density per sq ft of office/industrial workers on a specific site which have to commute by car from somewhere. As you add floors to the buildings and increase this density suburban area as well as minimum transit requirements grow at a higher rate than linear until you reach unsustainable commute times and real estate prices in the “acceptable” commute area (depending on the area might be up to 2 hours) rise dramatically.
What those semi-mythical pictures of the American dream in the 1950s - a house, a car, a nuclear family with a stay-at-home mom - usually omit is that they’re around recently built factories. Detroit cough cough.
So you can solve this problem by 1) developing a mass transit system to increase residential area with acceptable commute times 2) relocate job providers (works great if you’re the Politburo and can order a company to relocate) 3) increase residential density from low-density suburbia to mixed zoning and increase the number of residents in the acceptable commute area.
None of this is driven purely by market forces.
Historically it’s exactly the opposite. Ease of transport (first wide, slow moving rivers then rail and finally highways) drove infrastructure and business development and subsequently housing.
Really? LA for example? It’s not a real public transit system if non-poor people avoid it as much as possible.
Saw that tour… they opened with South of Heaven
You are a fascinating one.
You’re a nuisance
I intend to be
I’m not talking about the history of railroads and doing things like getting coal out of the ground, which we still move massive amounts of material by rail.
Passenger rail in the USA has been dying a slow death since the automobile for one simple reason. Not many people choose it. Hence Amtrak. Passenger rail made a lot more sense to me when I was in Germany for a few months in the 90’s and I could see why it is so practical for Western Europe.
I haven’t spent any real time in the L/A area for about 20 years and I offer no defense for anything that occurs in California. East Coast mass transit may not be pleasant but it is functional enough in terms of moving people.
Back on-topic, I don’t think it is a far-fetched conspiracy theory to believe that our foreign adversaries are deeply pleased with the actions of Democrats lately, and are likely bankrolling it in many ways. Whatever your opinion about their policy platform may be, it goes a long way towards cutting into the USA’s capacity to wage war.
They certainly seem to want to hasten the decline with their nut job BS
What does “engender the military strength to weaken it” mean?
Well, it’s a far-fetched theory because the Russians are bankrolling MAGA “America is falling apart, civil war is inevitable” influencers.
Per the latest DoJ indictment, Dave Rubin, Benny Johnson and Tim Pool were each getting paid 400k/month* by the Russian government to spew this BS outlined by a guy - I’m not joking - named Konstantin Kalashnikov.
Do these Russian talking points - “I don’t give a fuck about data, I know America is falling apart because vibes” sound familiar?
*They publicly confessed, but claim didn’t know it was Russia. Yeah, right
I doubt that was in a textbook from 1954. It may very well be a list on how to end the US as a democracy today (not 1954), and yes, I know we are technically a republic but I didn’t write the op-ed.
This list implies this recipe has historical precedence but I would like to know which former democracies fell due to the actions on this list.
Being a train geek, I like the sound of this. Trains made commerce easy between settlements. Railroads built America. For use in commuting to and from work the ease of getting to your desired work location must be considered.
I can use my car to get from home to a station to board a train heading in my work direction. Once I get to the station that is closest to my work location will I need transportation to get to my work location. How far is that walk, or Uber, or bus to my work location, knowing I must also get back to that station to return home? If this is not convenient, I would opt to use my car.
Working in Washington DC is much more ideal for commuter rail to and from work. A vast number of work locations are in close proximity.
Safety on commuter trains is critical if you expect people to take advantage of the commute. I addressed that in my first post on this thread, Ecclesiastics 8:11.
I’m always a little worried people consider these, and Taco Bell, authentic. They are in the same sense sushi at a cheap Chinese buffet is.
We have a Maine Lobster food truck but restaurants I’m aware of.
There’s a Twin Peaks in the towns adjacent to us. The food is good. And so is lingerie week.
In this context I’d wager it’s to implement changes that will weaken the military… ham fisting women into certain roles, the trans crap, the pathetic recruiting campaign commercials… all branches except The Corp s are facing huge recruitment issues
I’d love a cross-country train ride
Cities here have bus depots and HOV lanes, which function in a similar way.
Most of the suburbs around major cities in Texas have park and ride with drop-offs at major employment zones. It can cut a commute in half and doesn’t require massive spending, construction and spoiling new land.
These buses are on a dedicated route, not circuitously rolling around miles of bus stops.
I have no doubt Russia continues to meddle in any way they can, as any adversary might.
Tim Pool and Dave Rubin are not exactly drivers of conservative policy and I’ve never heard of the other guy. Pool has been doing the same skater dude street reporter thing since the WTO protests in the late 90s when he worked for Vice. I never saw the appeal of either of those guys. Pool is a centrist who has no special insight into much at all.
Besides, the talking points are largely borne out by facts. How else can you explain why my town has state funding available for a low barrier homeless shelter but no funding for higher salaries for more prosecutors or more jail capacity?
We’ve got 5 prosecutors to work the a 1000 + case backlog for the county, but millions are available to enable drug addicts and keep them occupying my streets.
Dems running the show from top to bottom here.

Thats funny, cuz I watch them from time to time and I started getting suspicious of some of their messaging. I Didn’t go to russian propaganda campaign, I just chalked it up to bad scripting and the same tired old messaging.
