When everyone discusses Bret Favre, everyone talks about how “old” he is. Unreal. We live in a culture that values youth more than age.
Time does fly. I’ve been lifting since I was 15 so it’s just like any habit, good or bad, it’s hard to break.
Funny, I read these forums and think “where are all these people?” We must be rare since I don’t run into them at my kids birthday parties with other adults.
It’s nice to have a passion that makes us rare. One example, I’m at MacDonalds playland with my kids. I hadn’t worked out in a few days so I started doing vertical jumps touching the structure. I also started doing dynamic stretching. I’m sure some of the other parents thought I was wacked.
i’m over 50 and at 109# i can lift 2x my bodyweight. a lot of hard work, dedication, and particularly lots of time nursing sore muscles - i hit that mark. getting older means getting better & stronger in my book. the only numbers i care about is how much can i lift.
You youngsters crack me up with your talk of 70,s cars and banana seat bikes. My first car was a 1940 Plymouth the second one was a 1941 ford coupe.Ooh, by the way i will turn 74 on Dec the 12th hope to do a squat of three hundred on that day as well as pull the same.

Glad to hear it. Personally, I like to be called youngster. We train with a fellow who is coming up 70 and still competes. As far as sports go, this is a great one for longevity.

My Dad’s first car was a 1940 Plymouth. Interesting.
I am only 39 and I have a lot of respect for everyone on this forum (Over 35 lifter - fuck that stupid RMP and stuff). I so badly do not want to look like my parents. LOL.
LOL, my fathers first car was a 1923 Auburn. And no I wasn’t around then, he had pictures. My first car was a 1970 Pontiac Le Mans Sport convertible.
My friends tell me that I am nuts. At “your age you should do this you’re gonna kill yourself”. Then they need a crane to get them out of the chair. My dad passed away early because he didn’t take care of himself. Not me.

Ain’t that the truth!
OR they get all hot and bothered twice a year- January 1 and right before Memorial Day for swimsuits…then it’s “how do you do it!?”
My first car was 72 gremlin…sigh…5.2L straight six with points and condenser the way God intended!
Hit my PR on the bench at age 43- 305lbs, 5’ 7" @ 180lbs…now I just lift to keep everything together (I’ll hit 52 next Sunday) and “look good nekkid”.

Now this is inspiring! Keep it up treedancer and welcome to the forums!
