Do You Drink Coffee?

Kopi Luwak is coffee the a civet (small cat like animal) shits out. It’s washed, roast, and in the US can cost up to $600 a pound.

$600/lb fucking cat shit!!

I’ll stick with $40/lb Kona, or $10/lb Kauai, which imho is better than Kona.

I got one of these and it’s the coolest thing ever. It’s a bit of a bother for everyday use but it makes excellent coffee. It doesn’t take as long as it seems in the video. Maybe 6-7 minute.

Wow, for a second I thought this was a 21st century crack maker for the up and coming new age crack dealer.

So this whole thing is done without the use of a filter?

Oh, I should add that she doesn’t buy pure Kopi Luwak, it’s like a blend where every 10% of the beans were turded out or something.
Now with this coffee we can be terribly honest when you say stuff like “That’s good shit,” or “I hate that shit.”

You guys have some hard core sensitive taste buds, because I can’t tell one roast from the next. Well that is not 100% true. I grew up on the ol NY standard of a “Coffee Regular” 2 creams-2sugars. Once that is done it all taste like pure creamy goodness.
Quit smotherin’ the bean juice in cream and sugar and you’ll be astonished at how you can distinguish the various blends and roasts.
I’m sure your statement is true, its a hard habit to break and that mix is as much of a habit as the coffee itself…ALMOST.

I drink mine black, no sugar (just like Jack Reacher!) but when I get my coffee at Starbucks I put two sugars and use up all their cream, though i’m sure there’s a company policy to only keep about 5 oz. in the cream jug.
Cream is so much better than milk in coffee.

So what is it about starbucks that drives you to cream up the god-bean-nector?

I guess I’m stupid but I see it as if I’m going to spend $3.00 then make it taste great.
When I make my instant coffee of which I drink 3 or 4 cups per day I drink it black because it’s the fastest way, just pour the hot water into my Thermos cup and go.
I guess it’s like you may drink Diet Coke all week with your lunch but when you go and have pizza on your cheat meal you will have regular coke…or beer, well, yeah, but I guess this analogy is now broken.

It’s got a little plastic plug thing in the top reservoir that has grooves in the seal to allow the coffee to flow through without the grinds.

They’ve been around a long time but not that common I guess because it’s a too much trouble compared to french press or drip.

This may sound like heresy but I went back to instant coffee. Nescafe.
Yeah, me too. Is this an Asia thing?

God damn coffee makers are just too expensive in this country…
You’re in Japan right? I’ve seen some of the great instant coffees at my supermarket here in Taiwan and it seems like the Japanese are very good with their instant coffee.
I get Nescafe Blend 37 in a 500g tub at Costco for about $20US. I drink mine black and used to get a venti from Starbucks each morning. Those were just under $3.00US, so even though some may be able to tell the difference, it doesn’t mean then that the instant is bad.
When you check the ingredients it’s just coffee beans.

Also, the instant is so much easier and faster to make. We have a hot water machine at work and I have one at home too.
Yep, seems like instant coffee is the thing to do here. I suppose it’s the fact that with all of the tea they drink, just using the electric kettles or electric thermos’ or whatever you call it is simpler than brewing.

I don’t mind it for my daily caffeine fix; just pour hot water over it and drink it black. If I have good coffee when I’m out somewhere, I’ll doctor it up with cream and sugar and enjoy it that way.

My girlfriend had been making us coffee for a while before she told me she was using the Kopi Luwak coffee, which is made from coffee beans that some small rodent in Indonesia eats and shits out but doesn’t digest the beans.
Really, I’m not kidding.
Yes, Black.

I can’t believe some of the coffee snobs on here like that burnt tasting shite that is Starbucks. Worst coffee eva.

My grandmother lives in Maui and ships my mom (who is the avid coffee drinker in the fam) different types of coffee from Hawaii quite often…so whenever I’m at the 'rents that’s what I drink…good stuff!

There is a place in Vancouver like that. they were selling a french press of the beans-eaten-by monkeys-and pooed-out-and-then-made-into-coffee for $150.

Every single time I read this thread title, I think of the opening line in this:

Carry on, as I’m always looking for good coffee.

Anyone use the Keurig single cup brewing machines? I got one for this past Father’s Day and use the hell out of that thing!

^^^ Bastards! That’s a great deal actually, and you could use the $70 you save to buy around 125 cups of coffee

I’m not as addicted as I used to be, but it’s still an everyday thing.

“Honey, don’t talk to me until I finish my first coffee…”

Disappoint!

Oh-- hot, black, strong, and first thing in the morning…

Anyone do “WaWa” coffee (NJ/PA/MD/DE/NY)? I miss it. Fuck Sheetz.
I live right down the road from a Wawa. Before work I always stop there to get my 24 OZ of coffee in the morning.
