Do You Believe in Ghosts?

Yeah, there are places that just feel evil, and while it may just be all in your head, I wouldn’t fuck around with it.

I would.

For every “legit” ghost story I’ve heard, there have been hundreds along the lines of “and then it turned out to be Sarah’s coat, hanging on a broomstick, with the fan on”.

Agree.

My friends house was haunted. We had all sorts of strange things happening there - when we had parties there would be all sorts of eerie things going on.

I stayed over one night to see what would happen and some truly freaky shit went down. I heard running down the stairs (staircase was wooden), crunching bottles downstairs, etc.

I, and all our friends, were convinced something was there.

My friend told me about a year later he’d staged everything - it was extremely well planned since he’d fooled over 30 people - including his parents. I’m the only one he’s told, he said he’d done it to prove just how simple it was to convince people of the supernatural.

A part of me still wants it to be true, as pissed off as I was for him pulling the wool over my(our) eyes.[/quote]

Hey it could have been worse… he could have told you only after you posted the whole story and told all your friends.

Your friend is a genius. A crazy genius. If you get carted off to jail in the near future screaming “I WAS SET UP” we’ll all know who did it.

LOL, why do you think I was pissed off?

We let the others run around thinking that there is still something to it.

Very likely. It would have been just the sort of thing she’d have done. She’s probably still pissing herself laughing at me right now.

I totally believe in ghosts. When I was younger we lived in a 150+ year old farm house, and I remember an old woman looking in at me from the hall when I was lying in bed. It happened several times, and a friend of mine also recalls her. He was scared shitless, but I never found her to be threatening.

I sped up and he sped up.

then he stood up,he stood up on 2 legs and started running about 45mph or so. I then ended up off the road into a ravine because this thing ran into me which threw me off the road.

did he have an Acme rocket strapped to his back?

Hahaha wow this thread is ridiculous.

What’s the deal with ouija boards. AFter my experience how I feel about the supernatural or even religion has been turned upside down. This happened almost two years ago and I still don’t know how I feel about it. Given that it wasn’t purely coincidence does it prove to me the existance of demons or similar entities?

there is always a logic explanation for those supernatural things,… you just don’t know it yet (or it is too hard to understand/comprehend).

regarding the ouija board and some spirit/ghost stuff, watch the seance episode of Derren Brown:

Wow, my first successful thread!!!

The whey shakes are on me!!!

I’m not sure about ouija boards. How can a $20 piece of cardboard & simple piece of plastic, be responsable for such a massive task ?

Why don’t the courts use it, to talk to somebody who’s been killed, to find out if the butler did it, or was it the gardener? Or was it the ex lover?

Hundreds of years ago, people thought that valcano’s were gods unto them selves & that those gods controlled the tides of the ocean. Now, with the advent of science & technology, we know that it’s the case, but it’s the earth’s gravitational pull that creates tides & intra earth pressure on the tectonic plates that cause valcano’s errupt.

Where am I going? Well, we’d be niave to say ‘this is how it is’, since we don’t know everything now, just like the ‘niave’ islanders were niave about valcano’s & the tides.

Don’t ghosts have anything better to do thatn make phone calls, open doors & windows, hang out in the desert & wonder around buildings?

Perhaps SOME spirits are able to make it back to us. Maybe they call can, but most would perfer to be with the majority of other spirits…perhaps that’s where the real party is.

I’m wondering, can anyone make a Ouija board? Mine would only have ‘Yes’ on it, and I would only ask questions I wanted answered in the affirmative.

Spirits of the Underworld, dost thou think I am Hott?

Yes?

Score!

I know people who’ve used scrabble letters. I wonder if playing scrabble (or other such word games) can summon the dead ?

Imagine that, your playing boggle & all of a sudden, joe bloggs, who died one dark & windy night on the loo, is telling you about words you can’t see…would that qualify as cheating? Hmmmm

Vic, would you LIKE to be told your hawt by a 250 year old ghost ?

It’s all money in the ego bank, bro. Change adds up.

no idea i wont rule it out though. all i can say is that everything as a whole is so much bigger than us so to immediately dismiss something based on our collective grasp is foolish.

I love this subject for a lot of reasons, but namely because some people are so dismissive of the idea that ghosts might exist.

Most of the world believes in religion, so they have to believe in ghosts, or at least the soul.

But people put alot of weight on science with the subject, which is both good and bad. Good because it leads to a lot of bullshit being debunked, but bad because it makes people think that science can solve everything, when in reality science, when you begin getting into this section of it, deals as much with philosophy as it does with evidence and the scientific process.

Honestly, this problem has bamboozled humans since they first existed, so I wouldn’t be expecting anyone to have any answers any time soon. But I’ve had my experiences that make me believe that there is indeed, more here.

I’m not saying that I believe in spirits and whatnot. All I’m saying is that some wierd shit happened when I used an ouija board.

Exactly how I feel, good post Irish.

I have heard that they should not be used alone… and I wouldn’t fuck with them. I never have, and never will.

I’m as skeptical as the next guy, but I don’t think I’d be using one by myself, either.

At least not at night, anyway.

good idea, some of the stories i’ve heard are seriously messed up.

Sometimes I do!

I love being scared though. I’ve seen that show TAPS and some other freaky things on the SciFi channel.

I’ve been to the Whaley House, here in San Diego which is a registered haunted house.
http://whaleyhouse.org/ghostly.htm

nothing happened but it made me hope something would happen. I suppose that means that I don’t absolutely disbelieve in ghosts.

These are good ideas. I’m tellin you, some of the scariest shit that ever happened was the time I used that thing, and there was no other way it could’ve been explained. It was super fucked up.
I think there’s too much stuff in general in the world that is unexplainable to dismiss the existence of ghosts and those types of things.

I asked about this earlier and no one responded, but growing up a good lil Catholic boy, I remember seeing a real exorcism on 20/20 when I was a little kid. Has fucked with me to this day. I still can and will not watch ANY type of movies about ‘demonic’ type shit because of it. Funny thing is, I was on a road trip with 3 other guys I was wrestling with about 5 years ago. One of my very good friends and I were the only 2 up on our 9 hour drive back, and we start talking about scary movies of the sort, etc, and he’s like, “Bro, I can’t watch any of that shit. I saw this special on 20/20 when I was little…”

Was the same thing, and to this day he can’t watch anything like that either. In fact, my wife had a copy of the movie ‘Stigmata’ in our house, and he wouldn’t even walk in the door of our house until we put the movie outside because that 20/20 special of like 18 years before had freaked him out so bad. If there’s not even such a thing as ghosts, I don’t know HOW the fuck you’d go about explaining things like demonic possessions, etc.
