Do I Need That Many Calories?!

So before I get into this here are some of my stats:

I was an athlete in high school, but I was a wrestler, so I was never interested in getting huge(senior year 135, cutting down from about 160) I did lift weights 4-5 times a week, but my main focus was on cardio. I took a break from the gym for a few years and just got serious about 2 years ago. Here is a little of where I am right now:

Height 5’7"
Weight 181
Body Fat havn’t checked in a while, but my best guess is around 15%

Bench 265
Squat 350
Clean 200

The supplements I am using right now are:

Cell Tech
Optimum Nutrition MRP
Pro Lab Training Packs
Spike Shooters (which, by the way, I am extremely pleased with!)

Along with these suppliments, I am making sure I eat enough calories to get gains, and try to get at least 200 grams of protien every day.
I recently have been contemplating switching to a high calorie suppliment. Some of the suppliments I have seen have calories as high as 1500-2000 per serving.

Compared to the 250 per serving I am taking now. This seems like an awful lot too me.
Here’s the thing, I want to get a lot bigger, but with minimal fat gains. Obviously, with suppliments with this high of calories, you will gain a good amount of fat. My question is:

Is it worth it to dive into one of these high calorie suppliments? Should I expect significantly more gains than focusing on a lean protien diet and suppliment? If I do decide to go with the high calorie approach, and it comes to the point I want to cut down, I realize that I could very easily lose months of gains.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

I have a feeling you’re talking about weight gainers. If you are, no, don’t take them. Its just a fuckload of sugar with some protein in it. You’re better off just eating 500 calories obove maintenence and gaining more lean mass than fat.

Those weight gainers should only be used by twigs who actually do eat alot but still cannot gain weight, all while mainting 7% BF.

There are plenty of good diet plans around here. Search for Massive eating, and read all the parts to it. There are a few.

Good luck.

Are you gaining weight? If not, you need more calories? If you are gaining more than a pound a week, its probably too many cals.

You said you wanted to be get big, so you need to gain weight. Make sure you are doing that consistently and it will happen.
