So before I get into this here are some of my stats:
I was an athlete in high school, but I was a wrestler, so I was never interested in getting huge(senior year 135, cutting down from about 160) I did lift weights 4-5 times a week, but my main focus was on cardio. I took a break from the gym for a few years and just got serious about 2 years ago. Here is a little of where I am right now:
Height 5’7"
Weight 181
Body Fat havn’t checked in a while, but my best guess is around 15%
Bench 265
Squat 350
Clean 200
The supplements I am using right now are:
Cell Tech
Optimum Nutrition MRP
Pro Lab Training Packs
Spike Shooters (which, by the way, I am extremely pleased with!)
Along with these suppliments, I am making sure I eat enough calories to get gains, and try to get at least 200 grams of protien every day.
I recently have been contemplating switching to a high calorie suppliment. Some of the suppliments I have seen have calories as high as 1500-2000 per serving.
Compared to the 250 per serving I am taking now. This seems like an awful lot too me.
Here’s the thing, I want to get a lot bigger, but with minimal fat gains. Obviously, with suppliments with this high of calories, you will gain a good amount of fat. My question is:
Is it worth it to dive into one of these high calorie suppliments? Should I expect significantly more gains than focusing on a lean protien diet and suppliment? If I do decide to go with the high calorie approach, and it comes to the point I want to cut down, I realize that I could very easily lose months of gains.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
