FWIW, it was a post-nup, not a pre-nup. Post-nups are notoriously hard to enforce, because they are almost always done when the relationship is already fucked.
My family law professor basically said, “If anyone ever asks you to draft them a post-nup, docket the challenge on your calendar for two years from the date it’s signed.”
Prenups will barely protect you, there’s no such thing as “iron clad”. Men have almost zero rights and given zero credibility when it come to divorce and family court.
A guy I grew up with has to pay child support for a kid that’s not even his. She doesn’t work and lives with another man who doesn’t pay for anything. (He is hardly unique I’ve heard of this a lot.)
There’s a famous case in Alabama (695 So. 2d 1186 (Ala. Civ. App. 1996)) of a man who was raped while passed out, she got pregnant and sued and he is paying child support, instead of her going to jail.
Recently a state ( I think Tennessee?) some lawmakers tried to get a law passed that said only the biological father has to pay child support, and it got killed in committee as being “anti family”.
So yes, it’s important to stay abreast of current events, get involved to defend your rights, and no, a prenup will NOT protect you from someone who wants to punish you. But still don’t get married without one. The best defense is to marry someone with the same values as you.

It’s not all related. When hard working Joe six-pack’s wife leaves him for another guy and takes the house and the car and the kids, I’m sure the judge doesn’t look to Barbara Striesand’s divorce of the week for precedence when he makes his ruling.
