Disney's Agenda Leaked

I really don’t understand what you mean here. There’s no ‘duality’. Evans said something that is essentially in line with their values. They’re not going to stop working with him over a minor word choice error. Carano did A SHIT LOAD OF THINGS. She’s refused to follow mask/vaccination policies that were implemented by the Hollywood unions, resulting in her being released from A DAILY WIRE PRODUCTION, of all things.

There’s no comparison to be drawn. Disney is very visibly choosing to work with actors/actresses who aren’t saying stupid shit on the internet and making it impossible to work with them. Where is the problem?

They might jump off due to fatigue though. It seems like the Disney+ series are being intertwined with the movies now, so to be fully dialed in on the story there’s just so much buy in. I’ll still check out the movies because I’ve enjoyed most of them, but I wouldn’t blame anyone for quitting if they don’t want to half ass the viewership.

I feel like I need to have a disclaimer that this post isn’t political, it’s just a statement about time commitment to a fantasy world haha.

sure, but that’s a COMPLETELY separate issue, right? Although I do think THAT is more likely to happen.

haha, noted. And I’ll go down this path with you.

I’m all in on the Marvel stuff. I’ve watched every marvel series on Disney, and every MCU movie to date. The last Spiderman and Dr Strange movies were TREMENDOUS. As long as they keep this sort of quality up, they’ll keep making tons of money off it. And for me, I’ve really enjoyed every series on the streaming network. I’m watching Ms Marvel now, and there’s been no fatigue for me. I like that each series has had its own style/flare. Like the animation in this Ms Marvel series, the style of WandaVision, the insanity of moon knight, etc. They’re not just pumping out Avenger-lite series, they’re creating unique content that CAN stand alone, but is also integrated into the MCU in important ways. With the introduction of Kate Bishop and Ms Marvel through the series, and America Chavez in the Strange movie, I’m anticipating a movement towards the Young Avengers in the near future. Excited about that!

No doubt, I just happened to see a graphic with the upcoming movies and shows over the next couple years right before I saw your post so it was fresh in my mind.

I have been too for the most part. I didn’t see WandaVision which was the first heads up that by missing the series you might not understand what’s going on in the movies. Luckily I’m in my 30s and have deductive reasoning abilities haha.

I caught up with a whole bunch of the series while I was sidelined with Covid back in the winter. They were no worse than fine IMO, way better than some of the dud movies.

Speaking only for myself, I just don’t care for TV series all that much. I’m way more of a movie guy. I’ll commit 2-3 hours once every few months if I dig the story, but it takes A LOT for me to get into a show just due to how much time it takes - and I have way more free time than most people. Part of that is once I do get into a show, I’m the type of person that needs to binge it until it’s over so I can be done with it.

Agree on the spider-man movie, not the Dr. Strange movie. I have found the movies and shows to be hit or miss. Similar to the Star Wars content. There is enough good to keep me watching a good amount of it (although I haven’t started either of the new Marvel shows).

I can see that. And I’ve heard a lot of people say similar things. I’m WAY more into the comic history of the Marvel Universes than most people, and I can see that unless you’re really a comic nerd, this particular movie wouldn’t have been as good as some others. I love what they’re doing with Wanda turning villain, the work with the multiverse, introduction of Chavez, etc. But most people probably don’t know who the hell America Chavez is in the first place.

Understandable.

I can’t stand any of it and haven’t seen a Marvel movie in probably over 5-7 years.

All of that stuff bores me now and I honestly can’t even tell you why. Watching TV, movies, etc in general does. I would rather read.

I’m not sure why people act like all black women are these crazy ghetto b*tches who are a turnoff to all men and all white women are…not, haha. Like, you been to a trailer park? FLORIDA? Etc.? Never seen a white woman act “ghetto”?

EDIT: I’m not saying you, @planetcybertron, have made that argument, obviously, haha.

I guess you did not see that lightyear completely underperformed at the Box office the first week-end? I’d say this is a clear sign that Disney loses support.

No one even remotely said that. White women have their own problems that largely pertain to them. There’s just way more black women who have the big problem of acting domineering. This is a (nearly) uniquely black women in America thing.

Lol. Seriously? The only thing that is ‘clear’ is that people didn’t want to see Lightyear in the theater on opening weekend. The fact that you think this definitively means ‘Disney is losing support’ tells me everything I need to know about how objectively you’re looking at this. Which is to say: not at all. Sometimes, movies just flop.

Lightyear took in like 52mil in it’s opening weekend.

Cars 3 took in 53 opening weekend in 2017. Waaaay before any of the current Disney controversies. And it’s a similar movie, a sequel/spinoff from an otherwise popular Movie series.

The Good Dinosaur took in 39 mil in 2015.

Onward took in 39 as well, in 2020.

Sometimes, movies just flop. I had no desire to see this movie in theaters, even though I generally like Pixar movies. It just didn’t look like a movie I needed to see. I’m sure it will do fine on streaming. So it goes, right?

As a side note: I don’t think Pixar/Dreamworks/kids movies in general will play that well in movie theaters for the foreseeable future. Over the last couple of years, we’ve really been conditioned to watch movies like this at home, particularly since Disney has it’s own streaming network. In the absence of Disney+, I would have personally been more likely to see Lightyear in the theater. But since I have Disney+, I can just say ‘I’ll just catch that in 3-4 weeks at home.’ The movie theater landscape in general has changed a lot. Movies like Top Gun and Jurassic World will probably play better in theaters because of the type of movie they are. They’re movies that will ‘feel’ different in a theater, movies that play better on a big screen, with big sound. Same with a lot of the Marvel movies. Animated movies… probably not so much.

How have you arrived at this set of “facts”?

Are movies for adults still being made?

Uh. FUCKING TOP GUN!

That movie is absolutely made for those of us who watched the original when we were like 10 years old.

The Marvel fan-base is largely not children either.

This was observation, an opinion. If something pertains to research I’ll say so.

But here’s some food for thought:

The problem apparently has been existing for decades (after all single motherhood is rampant in the black community):

There’s all kinds of women advice sites, news articles and so on about it:

Here’s a qualitative study on the matter:

Women’s approach to men is misguided: Seventy-three percent of the respondents in the gender relations category indicated that the Black woman’s approach to men is misguided, as it relates to patterns of pursuing a man for a relationship and not exhibiting ladylike behavior (e.g., cursing, wearing revealing clothing) (n=2), setting standards too high and placing more value on men who can offer material possessions and status (n=12), engaging in controlling behavior (n=2), lowering their standards to attract a man’s affection (n=4), and not being approachable (e.g., not friendly, bad attitude) (n=10).

Here’s some apparently alpha black woman talking about it:

So I guess, you can just call it my opinion, but it seems that some bigger part of the black community (especially men) see the problem.

Edit: the study was done by black women and carried out by black interviewers, if that matters to you.

That’s way under the estimated amount, while the making of lightyear costed 200 million dollar.

Looper writes:

Variety reports that the $200 million film (and that doesn’t even account for the marketing budget) opened to a disappointingly low $51 million box office, a far cry from the $121 million opening haul of “Toy Story 4” (via Bloomberg). On the critical front, the film holds a 76% on Rotten Tomatoes. That is far from a flop, but it does make it the lowest-rated film in the franchise.

I would not call it a flop, but it definitely underperformed.

Greatest movie I’ve seen in a while

I’m well aware. I said it flopped. My point was that you can’t make the logical leap you did to say that it flopped BECAUSE of a waning interest in Disney as a whole.

Disney estimated poorly. They thought that there would be a larger audience for a toy story spinoff than there was. I don’t want to get too much into the weeds on this, but I think that Disney expected the appeal of Toy Story to directly translate to this movie in a way that just didn’t happen. It’s not a movie about toys, it’s not the same character we loved in the Toy Story movies. I thought the trailers were really underwhelming, they didn’t produce the same level of excitement that the Toy Story movies did. They lost the spark that carried those movies.

This is just a thing that can happen with blockbuster Hollywood movies. Sometimes, they just miss the mark.

All that being said, 50mil opening weekend on a movie that cost 200mil to make? That’s not a disaster. The movie will make its money back and more. Something like a 20mil opening would be much more alarming.

I said it is a sign of it, but yes it does not have to be, you are right. You are right in that we have to wait, but I think there will be a real impact when more and more parents learn about the “not so secret gay agenda”. There are other signs that Disney is losing appeal. Let’s see how it goes in the long run.

Let me ask you something: are you fine with/for gay/trans figured being a regular part of children’s movies, if so, why?
And please don’t answer with a “it does not matter, it’s too little exposure”. I’m asking about a general stance on the matter.

Black women are no different than other women, they are attracted to confidence. The men complaining about black women say more about themselves.
