Person 1: I don’t think showing a disproportionate number of LGBTQ+IA characters in kids shows is something I want to expose my children to. Tolerant Liberal: You think gay folk are unfit for general society??? Person 1: No, I just don’t need non-heterosexual desires shoved in my kid’s faces behind my back. Tolerant Liberal: Oh, so you’re blatantly anti-gay then.
Everything you just said is “blatantly” false. Notice I used your term “blatantly” in the correct fashion. I’ve stated multiple times my stance, but let me quote myself.
I believe I’m reading between the lines here and into your rhetoric. No judgement here but are you gay, have a close friend/family member that is gay, child etc? I think that would provide some context to your sentiment.
LOL Imagine showing up 350+ responses into a thread without reading anything, then claiming shit that is demonstrably false - as evident by previous responses (which you would have seen if you’d read the fucking thread first).
AND THEN ignoring four responses saying your reaction is misplaced to double down on your wilfully ignorant position.
I thought the liberal party was that of the intellectual, not that of the fuckwitted
I’m gonna just give you a big eye roll as you are clearly circling the wagon at this point. You’ve made your point, you are pro homosexual content. I get it. You’re allowed to have your opinion. I have no issues with that.
You’re tolerant to those who are different from you, but not to anyone who thinks differently from you. This is exactly on par the liberal course, as mentioned above:
Which you took immediate offense to (to no one’s surprise).
I personally don’t care if they make this movie, but I don’t think it will make much money. Most parents of gay children are straight. Most straight people have trouble connecting with a gay love story (I think).
IMO, a big part of why Disney is so successful is because their movies don’t suck to watch as an adult (some are actually pretty good, I really like the Sword in the Stone for example). If the parents see a movie coming out that doesn’t interest them, they are less likely to expose their kids to it.
For this reason, I think we are unlikely to see a lot of stories like sleeping beauty with two dudes in it.
I also don’t think we will see a lot of body positivity stuff in Disney, because it won’t sell well. People don’t want to see the prince lift the obese princess in her hoyer lift to give her a kiss. Of course the prince still has to be in shape, men don’t get body positivity acceptance.
I mention the body positivity stuff, because there has been a push for that. Elsa is too pretty and thin, all the princesses are. That is what sells though.
You could have stopped there. I expressed my tolerance of both individual rights / gay rights and your opinions. You’ve done nothing of the sort. So yeah… you could stop right there.
There are a number of folks in this thread arguing to suppress gay storylines, because they view gay as lesser. Oppression of minority groups remains prevalent.
