That’s it! I hope it works for you! Walking dogs can and should be relaxing and great exercise for you and your pup. When you’re out there fighting from being dragged down the street, your stress levels shoot through the roof, and it makes the whole thing absolutley horrible. Plus, the bigger he gets, the stronger he’ll be, and the worse off you’ll be. Good luck!
awesome!!
can’t wait to try it out later.
I also purchased a bike attachment to hook him onto as well that will be here tomorrow.yay!
I gymed it this morning.
I’m cracking down on the diet front. Shorts and tank top weather will soon be here!
I’m feeling better and it’s time to put in some work. Even if I don’t lose I know I’m eating better and shouldn’t GAIN.
I’ll be tracking my foods.

Aside from the fact my knee/neck is still KILLING me and it was nerve racking driving the jeep in that DC traffic my appointment was everything I was hoping it would be. jumpforjoy!!!
I know she will get me on the right track.
For now I need updated labs to see how everything is looking since I’ve been on the new meds and I also need to get an U/S of my neck. She noted it was enlarged just looking at it.
She is letting me try adding another med(cytomel) to see how that helps with my energy.
She agrees with everything about the stuff I asked about. Getting the VITD and Iron up etc…whereas my regular Dr said it was “normal.”
She will look into other stuff if I don’t respond to the incoming new med addition.
I’m healthy beyond all this and she says I just need to be kicked back into gear ![]()

Ink- thanks for the suggestion. I had to cut our walk short this morning cause I was too damned aggravated. Is it something like this??
I’ll get it today!!
I so desperately want to go on long walks but he just wants to pull and pull. [/quote]
WOW!!! thats really great. 15mcg is GREAT! My lame ass endo started me with 5mcg and it was a battle to ever get her to give me 10. WOW YOU FOUND A GOOD DOC I AM LIKE ELATED!!!
Finding a good doc is easy if your paying out of pocket! ![]()
Seems like the dopiest of dopey Dr’s are what make up the insurance network. And if you want legit care you gotta pay for it.
We we were not in a position to do so until recently.

Anyways, I’m SO STOKED this is awesome and you are going to be feeling great like pretty much instantly I predict ![]()
damn glad things are looking up for you Mims ![]()
Mim: Great news about the doctor. And for whatever it’s worth, I always enjoy your log and have learned a lot and been inspired by your journey.
OH can I relate to the nightmare dog walks. Nigel’s cured of that thank god. The one excellent thing about him is he’s perfect on walks now. …but I’ll tell you what, if I couldn’t break the pulling habit I would probably not have him at my feet as I type this. its AWFUL walking a dog who pulls. at ANY size! Makes me so mad!
I recommend a pinch or prong collar. They aren’t as barbaric as they appear, and typically you don’t need to use them for ever. Also make sure you have the collar way up high on the neck–as in right under the jaw way top of the neck.
ALSO: i HIGHLY suggest watching The dog Whisperer, seriously–and watching how he stops the dogs from pulling. You don’t pull back, you correct by pulling up, or to the side. Once you see how, its simple and works. i don’t think verbal commands work that well, typically the dog just responds to your energy and body language.
REALLY! It sounds silly but if you do what Ceaser Milan does it stops–fast. I use it on all the dogs that I have to walk at work who have no leash manners and I did on my Nigel. once you get it down, walks are so wonderful! A true joy to do!
yay!!! I love that show and watch it all the time. I wish he had more shows about puppys!
Cesar makes it look so easy.
My problem is that the dog has a faster walk than I’d like to walk at. Trying to get him to sloooow down and focus is hard. I think this gentle leader collar is going to work. But even with that thing I was having to stop every 5 seconds to pull him back towards me and start again. Patience will prevail hopefully!
My doggy bike attachment will be arriving today!
Hall- oh that royally SUCKS. To have to pay and STILL get crappy treatment. I chose the Dr I did because she is partners with Mary Shomon’s Dr. Hard to go wrong there ![]()
Awesome news on the doctor front, really sucks that it took you so long to find a good one. It should not have to be that way. Good that you stuck with it.
Thanks. It was only because we were not in a position to pay for it ourselves. I’ve been eyeing this doctor forever but it co$$$t.
So I tried and tried and TRIiiiED to stick within the network of crappy drs with no luck AT.ALL.
So what happens when you move? Are you gonna fly back to narnia (where you live now) periodically?
Love it when things are looking up! Just stopping in to say Hi MiMsy!
CT- Trying not to worry about it until I know for SURE Hawaii is where we are going.
I’ve been told that’s THE WORSE place for thyroid care. Go figure.
Ddot- HI!! Thanks!!
So starting Monday is my official ‘I’m going to do cardio to see if I can lose weight like everyone else,’ challenge.
How much time should I give myself to judge results? 4-6 weeks?
Yall know how bad I want these pounds off so I can stop talking about it and get on with my life.
A part of me wants to skip the cardio and go straight to the down and dirty way of dieting(the RFL diet) But I think it would be wise to keep a modest level of cals while adjusting to my new meds instead of ‘crashing.’
So here is my plan.
7 days a week I am walking 2x/day for 30 minutes.
That’s 830-9am…it would be earlier but the lazy puppy is still tired in the mornings and I like to wear him out before I go to the gym.
And then 430-5pm in the evenings.
I lift MWF…930-11am.
should I do MORE cardio before/after here?
bike sprints maybe?
T/Thurs I am going to take spin classes…afterwards working on BW stuffs.
Saturday is open…I can take another class…or go on longer walks this day and on Sunday. I also got the doggy bike attachment thing and can now go biking with him.
We’ll see how this goes for two weeks. I need to track my foods too. It’s an everyday battle trying to be ‘good,’ when I’m so hungry!! I can only eat so much celery.
As time goes on I would expect I would have to find ways to add more and more cardio or make it harder or decrease food…all of the above???
I’d rather add more cardio FIRST than take more food away if I can help it. I’m aiming to start at 1800 cals. That sounds high and I’m not sure if I’m eating that much right now. Could surprise myself if I logged it for a couple days.
I really should start spin again but ugh, it’s uncomfortable on my crotch and I hate having to take another pair of shoes to the gym (Vibrams + pedals = ouch. I know, because I tried).
I know how frustrating weight loss (or lack thereof) is. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, my achilles tenodinitis makes any fun cardio impossible, so I’m stuck with the boring kind and the result is I don’t do it.

Bike sprints? Hopefully on a stationary bike otherwise I’d fear for your safety. 0_0
I used to do sprints on an elliptical.
I say as far as exercise is concerned do whatever your body can recover from and doesn’t wear you down or interfere to much with other life type stuff. Basically whatever you can handle and whatever you have time for.
