I don’t like eggs and protein powders enough to make them the staple of proteinz.
There are some valid points out there as far as getting enough nutrients to have a balanced vegan diet while training, etc. I think it takes years of dedication and practice to find what works…just like any other way of eating healthfully. I think a vegan diet takes more thought and is more expensive in a way??
It’s to hard to look away once you read, learn and see stuff. So you change the way you eat or ignore it.
i could never go vegan, and since food choices are such personal decisions, i won’t offer any advice/opinions [disclaimer], but (!) my best friend is a personal chef for a vegan so if she has any good recipes/advice I will pass them along to you. Also, this movie was just recommended to me. Might be interesting (I haven’t seen it yet so can’t offer a personal opinion, but I am hoping to see it soon crosses fingers).
I won’t be able to offer up new pics til I get home.
The color still looks as good as when I left the tatt shop! Kinda glad I didn’t get the whole WHOLE thing finished, cause it was rather painful and red for a couple days.
Cho- thats one of the movies I saw on a weekend documentary marathon I went on, haha. Definitely makes you think!
So today is our last day…we’ll be leaving this evening and will be home by morning. I really hate the leaving part.

My appointment was so so. He was nice enough. Sympathetic of my feeling crappy. But he believes I am “normal,” (as far as thyroid lab values go)and is encouraging me to look into other underlying issues that may be making me more symptom-y. Feritin, progesterone, cortisol and even a celiac test. Just one of em though that measures the antibody produced by the intestine. (transglutaminase) Does anyone know about that here??

Have you had those labs before? They can also cause your fatigue issues. Full Iron labs could be worth it as well… iron/ferritin shortage can mirror hypothyroidism as far as symptoms. Sorry I can’t remember if you’ve actually had RT3 tested or if it’s just what you think is wrong based on your symptoms and other labs.
I had ttg/iga test (tissue transglutimase/something with IgA initials) for celiacs. It’s supposed to be pretty definitive.
Tsh is still high( 5.257)
T3- 61 (60-181)
FT4- 1.5 (0.8-2.7)
T3 Resin Uptake- 36 (22-35)
Thyroxine Total- 6.7 (4.5- 12.0)
Cortisol…13 (A.M. 4.3-22.4) isn’t that kinda highish for the morning?
Feritin…29 (10-291) kinda on the low side??
Iron- 68 (50-170)
TIBC- 313(250-450)
Iron Sat. 21.7( 15-50)
Folate- 13.60 (>5.38) ???
VIT B12- 1065 (211-911) ???
These are some of the tests I got back. Scj- heyyyy. not vegan…maybe flexatarian?
I think I am dealing with RT3 issues…low FT3 and high RT3…(although you don’t see it in this post because they didn’t test those this time) But you can see the T3 uptake is high and the T3 is looow. whatever it all means…

I don’t pay any attention to total t3 or t3 uptake (not saying those labs have no uses… I just don’t know of any).
Your ferritin is crazy low. I’m not familiar with that lab range… but mine was 30-400 and the ideal value was like 200-250. But if you had iron deficiency, TIBC should be low too (check out Transferrin and Iron-binding Capacity (TIBC, UIBC) - Testing.com ). Definitely warrants more investigation. Ironically, I would suggest eating more red meat to get iron up. Iron supplements are possible here but I wouldn’t take anything like that until you ask a real doc about it.
Cortisol is low (8AM cortisol is supossed to be at the top of the range… on the high side of 15-20 at 8am). But it’s not abysmal… slightly low.
I am kinda surprised you have super high B12. Don’t know of any problems with it being too high (haven’t researched it though).
The fact he is not even testing FT3 makes me doubt anything he has to say about thyroid. I don’t understand doctors’ resistance to letting you try something and seeing if you feel better. If it doesn’t work it’s not like there is some dire negative consequence.

IF you want to get the vegan propoganda out of your head I bet there’s anti vegan propoganda out there you can watch to cancel it out
YOUR LABS:
Feritin…29 (10-291) kinda on the low side?? YES KINDA LOW
Iron- 68 (50-170) ALSO LOW YOU SHOULD IRON SUPPLEMENT (OR EAT MORE MEAT LOL)
Tsh is still high( 5.257) WAY HIGH WAY HIGH YOU ARE HYPO
YOU ARE ALSO POSITIVE FOR ANTIBODIES YES?
T3- 61 (60-181) WHY DON"T THEY TEST FREET3? This is TOTAL WAY WAY WAY LOW YOU want this to be 135 OR HIGHER IDEALLY 150+ to be in the top 3/4 of the Lab Range
FT4- 1.5 (0.8-2.7) FREE T4 Really means nothing you appear to be NON CONVERTING the T4 into T3
T3 Resin Uptake- 36 (22-35) MEANINGLESS TEST
Thyroxine Total- 6.7 (4.5- 12.0) This is TOTAL T4 (As opposed to FREET4 Test Above)
It’s becoming sort of comical. I’ve made an appt with the Armour Doc. Hopefully that will help!![/quote]
I’m glad you’re finding some humor in all of this. Sometimes laughter is the best medicine, as sad as that is…at least its a little band aid until you get your real medicine!
Every time we talk about thyroids I start to freak-the-fuck-out! Are thyroid problems genetic? Environmental? How do I know if I will get problems!!! Sigh…
Keep doing you, MiMsy! When’s the armour doc apt? Where is this doc located?
