Hey guys,
I haven’t been on here in a while, but I thought I’d stop in to ask for some help with my diet. Right now I’m trying to drop a bit of weight for the summer. I was tracking my diet today, to see where I needed to apply some changes. Heres what I came up with:
kcal: 3340
fat: 40g
protein: 415g
carbs: 350g
I’m rather surprised that I came out with numbers like these. I’m thinking that I probably need to drop the calories down to about 2900, keep the fat where it is, and eat a bit less protein.
Any tips would be great. This is the first time I’ve gone on a “leaning out” diet. =/
It is a little bit hard to tell without knowing things like height, weight bf% guess and goals but initialy, I would agree with you that you may want to get more cals from fat and a bit less from protein.

Give us some more info though.[/quote]
agree on ALL that more info on You and MORE FAT!!!
As a side note, you might want to use fitday.com to track your food intake. As long as your not dieting for a contest, its simple, easy, and accurate enough for most peoples needs.
Alright. More info coming up.
Height - 6’1
Weight - 190
BF% - low teens? I’m not really sure.
Goals/backround - I’m not dieting for a contest or anything, just wanting to drop a few lbs. for the summer. I’m a gymnast, and in the gym I focus mainly on compound heavy lifts. No isolation stuff, no direct arm work, and so on. Right now I’m cutting back some calories, monotoring my lifts to make sure they stay stable, and keeping active.
Whats worked for you guys in the past, when trying to lean out for the summer?
How long do you normally keep up a “cutting” diet?
Less carbs and protein. Why are you eating more than 2.5g of protein per lb of LBM? Way too much.
I would stay between 2500 and 3000 calories per day, with the low number on off days, somewhere in the middle on moderate days, and the upper number on serious training days. And I agree with everyone else that your fat intake is waaaaay too low.
To clarify, I wasn’t “trying” to eat that much protein. I was suprised that I eat that much. Yesterday I just wrote down what I ate, not thinking about anything in particular. Today I’m trying to up the fat a bit, and cut back the protein and overall calories.
