I’ve done some searching online and here and haven’t exactly found what I’m looking for. I’m looking for some literature on developing a proper diet for cutting. I’ve followed a strict carnivore diet for the last 8 months. I’m 5’9 and weighed 254 lbs at the beginning. I’m currently 210 lbs but have been at this weight for approximately 1.5 months. Body composition has held steady as well. I lift 4 days a week for approximately 1.5 hours a day. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Most of my searches online lead me to ads and other junk for meal plans and food delivery services.
Define junk?
Is your goal to lose more weight or to reduce bodyfat percentage?
Mostly sales ads
Yes, my goal is to reduce body fat percentage.
How are you currently measuring bodyfat percentage to evaluate your stall?
Do you know how much you’re eating a day?
Goal of 2850 calories. 2600 to 2800 is what I’ve been hitting. 160g+ of protein while on carnivore.
Currently using a BIA scale which I know can be inaccurate. Visually is the biggest indicator for me. I’m def open to suggestions to better measure
Can you post a pic?
I can after I leave work this afternoon
How are you eating carnivore and only getting 160g of protien when consuming 2800cals? 160g is only 640cals. Something isn’t adding up here. This would mean your eating 240g daily of fats?

There are actually many people in the carnivore community that aim for 70-80% of calories coming from fat.
I can believe it. Personally i would not go that route but whatever works!!
For me personally if I was marathoning/ultrarunning this would be good but for BB not so much. I doubt he’s even getting 1g per lb of LBM.
Yeah, Robert Sikes has been able to succeed with such an approach, and has a stable of clients he has coached that way, but it’s definitely not the norm. Apparently ketones are protein sparing, and can reduce the amount of protein necessary. But it’s not something I can personally vouch for. I have noticed I tend to get leaner when I up my fats and cut my proteins, but I also know that PSMFs work too, so there’s a lot of whacky ways to get diced.
I do think we tend to overthink macros, underthink caloric balance, and pretend micros don’t exist. Forest for the trees and all that
Something like calories for weight, macros for composition, micros for health then?
Happy cake day!
And I think so. I was also tired and probably trying to be too clever, so there is that. But I think the things are interrelated. Like if you’re iodine-deficient, your caloric balance (deficit) will be impacted. We’ve lately discussed at least 3 vastly different macro-focused diets that all result in shredded bodies. People almost never talk about the role salt plays in workout performance (which is certainly a driver of composition) independent of the rest of your diet strategy. And on and on I prattle.
This is 100% accurate.
