I am a very new lifter and taking several supplements. I am taking:androbolix before workout and at night before bed, zma’s before bed, and nitroshock before a workout. I have had Diarrhea for the past week and a half everyday. I am pretty sure i narrowed it down to the nitroshock, because i have an off day with the Androbolix. I literally drink the nitroshock in the bathroom now. I use the bathroom once and then im good to go, but lately I am having it morning and afternoon.
I honestly love the nitroshock so much that I dont want to give it up. I have no energy in the gym without it. I am 5’11 and 147 pounds. can my body just not handle it? Is there anything else that you would recommend taking to give me that boost, and that pumps your muscles? thanks for any replies!
First you need to work on your diet, go to the beginners forum and read all the stickies. As far as what you are taking I’m gonna have to suggest you throw that shit away. As far as supplements you should be taking whey protein, creatine, multivitamin, fish oil and that’s it. ZMA isn’t bad for you but you really don’t need anything else.
alright, i guess i will just finish this shit and start fresh. ive always heard that creatine is bad for you and that your not really as big as you look. is any of that true? also, i have low testosterone, had it for years, thats where i figured the androbolix would really help me.
Creatine is safe, there is two decades of research to back that up. The only studies that showed a potential risk for creatine were when they gave rats massive doses of it. The rats eventually stopped producing it on their own. Humans aren’t going to take in nearly enough to even get into the ballpark. I use 5g in my surge post workout. There is no need to use more than 5gs or to load it or anything like that. Anything beyond 5gs and you will start to bloat and retain water.
Creatine does increase intracellular hydration(muscle holds more water), but this isn’t going to make you look that much bigger and it helps in the repair process. Creatine will increase your work capacity, you will be able to do more sets than before without fatiguing as quickly; it will not increase your limit strength.
The ability to do more work and recover more efficiently will aid you in reaching your goals.
If you are having trouble with energy during your workout, look to your diet; there is probably something there that off. You are 147 lbs, you should be eating a massive amount of clean food. Your regime should be eat/eat/eat/eat/lift/eat/eat/sleep/repeat, eat good whole food and keep increasing your calories until you start getting bigger. Not so much that you pack on fat, and that would be tough to do if you eat fairly clean.
Oh, and get good old creatine monohydrate, it is cheap, effective, and sold in the Biotest store. And it will last a long time(100 workouts if 5g post workout is used for like $13).

Am I the only one who cringes when I see this? If you are a new lifter, you don’t need supplements. You need to educate yourself about nutrition and start logging your daily calories to see how pitifully little you are eating, and then adjust accordingly.
And as for the creatine, zagman is right. But don’t even worry about that now, just worry about learning proper form on your lifts, good nutrition habits, and think about how you are going to fit 3 or 4 workouts per week, 5-6 meals a day, and 8-10 hours of sleep a night into your schedule.
Basically read, read, read. And then lift heavy things.
I agree with sword: You don’t need to be taking a bunch of crap right now. Also, don’t waste your money on “energy” supps like NO Explode or that crap. If you want some energy before the gym, buy a pack of Spike Shooters. That’ll get the job done. And the guys above me have given you solid advice on creatine, so follow it.
alright, the only thing with creatine is everyone says that you will lose what you gained as soon as you get off it. but whatever. i will definitely start logging my calories and stuff like that. thanks guys. if anyone has suggestions on what creatine or any info its greatly appreciated.

Look for Biotest Creatine in the T-Nation Store
Just click on the green “STORE” at the top of the page.

Exactly right, I agree with swordthrower, learn the basics first.
But if you are going to supplement, then be smart about it. Stick to something tried and true, protein, post workout nutrition, and creatine. That is about as crazy as you should get for the next two years.

You may loose a small amount of visible size from the intracellular hydration, but you will not lose all of the gains you make. The strength and structural gains that you make while using creatine are real gains, not magic.
The biggest thing here is to remember, when people tell you something, assume they are morons until they prove otherwise. The vast majority of people don’t know what they are talking about, when this happens seek out good sources of information and make intelligent decisions.
If you record your calories and diet and training and post it here, people will help you. Getting your nutrition and training in order will do far more for you than anything with a cool name that costs 40bucks a bottle.

The funny thing about “everyone” is that “they” tend to pass around the same old garbage. Do your own research and stop listening to people who simply parrot what they heard last week on Oprah.
Creatine is found naturally in all kinds of foods. It simply provides a surplus of phosphorous molecules that the mitochondria in your muscle cells need to recharge Adenosine Di Phosphate (ADP) back into Adenosine Tri Phosphate (ATP), which in turn, allows your muscle to do more work without quite as much rest (i.e. you can get in another rep or two 8^).
Biotest’s creatine is good quality German Creapure brand. It’s a great choice if you want to use creatine. Other than that, stick to protein powder, fish oil caps (Flameout) and a good workout/recovery drink like Surge. Supps should be minimized if you’re new to lifting. Healthy food like lean meat, fresh vegetables and fruit, and healthy fats like nuts and olive oil should be your focus.
Good luck, it sounds like you’re willing to take some good advice and learn what you need to know to succeed in your goals. Go right to the beginners forum and read all the articles linked in the sticky threads at the top.
Oh BTW, as far as workout energy is concerned, try eating a bowl of oatmeal about an hour before your workout. For those tough days maybe have a cup of coffee a half hour before as well. You really shouldn’t need any more than that at your age.

I find that oatmeal doesn’t give me much energy so I eat a Cliff bar then a whey shake before I go workout, then drink Gatorade or Surge while I workout. That gives me enough energy to keep going.
alright guys, i really appreciate all the help. i will definitely do much more research on my own. just so i have this right: Biotest creatine, Surge, and Flameout?! sounds good.
