Sorry about that…I thought it kind of getting spoilery on the first page so I thought it wouldn’t be a problem.
Maybe I sould tell you about the thrid book?
SPOILERS:
You find that Dexter’s inner demon is a real, yes real demon that possesses him.

I’ve been thinking about that twist for a while now…but do you think there’s any real way of going in that direction without making the series do a triple lindy over that shark?
They’ve pretty much ended any pretense of following the plot lines of any of the book series beyond what was laid down as the ‘fundamentals’ from the 1st book…is there any way of plausibly introducing that degree of high strangeness (or specifically, that type of strangeness)?
^^ I don’t think so. It’s just to wacky to work.
I don’t even think Dexter is “evil” anyway. He’s doing what many people would have done to the worst parts of the tribe for thousands of years.
Heck, in James Bond movies, Lethal Weapons 1 through 4 and all other kinds of movies we have the hero shooting all kinds of bad guys and it’s seen as light-hearted fun, but because Dexter uses a knife and binds the bad guys down we see this as some huge dark conundrum as to whether Dexter is doing the right thing or not.
It’s all rather cut and dried to me.
Dex is as an anti-hero just like the Punisher

Agreed.
Even though they aren’t biologically related, it’s still creepy. Especially if you have a sister yourself.[/quote]
It’s only creepy if you’re a creep. Kinda like a gym shower is only gay if you are. It does add a weird dynamic but if you feel funny maybe you should tell your sister.
Amirite?

People do not develop a sexual attraction to people they grew up with.
Probably a mechanism to prevent incest.
If Deb still does she is either incredibly fucked up or the writers are reaching.
Deb is fucked up, i don’t think the show has jumped the shark.
We haven’t had Season 6 yet in the UK. Some shows we get more or less the same time as the States (Walking Dead, Game of Thrones) and others like Dexter and True Blood we have to wait ages for. It’s annoying.
Love Dexter, though. I’d agree Season 3 was probably the weakest but they’re all very enjoyable nonetheless.

That’s what it feels like to me…that the writers are reaching.
It doesn’t help that I hate her character and the actress too.
I’m still stiking with the idea that Deb doesn’t make it through the first 15 minutes of next season’s premier…who’s with me?
^^ I’m OK with that, but I don’t want Dexter to do it.
I’d like for her to crash into a piano wire factory and get all cut up then a truck of lemon juice tips over on top of her and the ambulance that takes her away drops her off in a big pile of salt then a bunch of people from a football game piss on her for 40 minutes.
Dexter would never be able to hurt Deb, If he does it the series will be taken to a whole new level
Just finished with the last episode so I can finally read this thread without any spoilers. I don’t think the Deb thing will be that big of a deal, she won’t arrest him so it might just make it easier for him to sneak around if he doesn’t have to lie to her all the time. I’m more interested to see what happens with the intern guy. I assumed the last scene would be dexter opening the package but instead it was the Deb thing.

Exactly.
I put HoustonGuy on ignore for a reason.
He is one special kind of stupid.

I think you misunderstand.
While acknowledging, on some level, that it is an unsettling plot twist might be normal, allowing it to become an overbearing detraction from the show would seem to be an unrealistic reaction for a normal person.
The lady dost protest too much, and all that. Though YMMV.

No I didn’t misunderstand.
I didn’t stop watching, but I still think it’s creepy.
It’s pretty stupid to compare seeing a random dude’s dick in a change room to SEXUAL ATTRACTION to one’s sibling. The former is a regular occurrence you accept in daily life, while the other is not. Not to mention, the latter is considered immoral and even illegal in some places.
Lastly, if you’re the type to put yourself into the protagonists shoes when watching television and movies, the level of disgust is amplified.
