Nice log, and that’s some damned strong pulling! Curious about how you planned this off season–how did you outline the block?
I appreciate the kind words, especially coming from a veteran poster like yourself, Sir Aragorn. I actually pulled back on doing any Block programming, and actually did 5/3/1 for 8 weeks. My body needed the break from Block programming because it beats me up too much. Although, now I’m back to the Block programming for my meet prep.
Well thank you very much. I hope I’m somewhat intelligent and of use here lol. You sir pull reps like a beast…even when I pulled all the time (squat focused right now) and pulled over 600 I could never DL more than 500 x 8 for reps. I suck something bad at rep deadlifts using a heavy % of my RM.
I find it interesting that you only use 1 or 2 exercises in your warm-up and activation. I really like to have a variety of things to warm up my whole body. You don’t find that certain parts have a harder time warm-ing up for the main lift?

I always appreciate and welcome more voices in my log. I like the added perspective(s) when it’s here. Speaking of which, for all who follow my log, I can’t stress how awesome this series of videos are. It’s my man-crush Jeremy Frey speaking on training
2 exercises in my warm up? I’m sure what you’re referring another than the plyometric work that I do before weights.
I don’t write it down but I also use the rumble roller on IT bands, Hip flexors, Glutes, Quads, etc and a general dynamic warm up first thing when I start my training sessions. Those two things make it easier for me to be physically, emotionally, and psychologically ready for the main lifts.

Yep, reading fail on my part obviously. WTF was I thinking. I personally don’t like squatting without warming up my upper back as well… actually I don’t really like doing anything without warming my upper back up lol. Love the plyometric work, but I always include upper back work anyways. Once my back feels warm the weights feel very stable.

Frey is a badass. That is all.
I do something very similar to this before every training session
I also do joint flossing for upper body afterwards as well
I’m big on prehab work. Even as a young buck at 23, I can’t stress enough how important doing 10-15 min warming up makes, it’s all the difference in the world. I’ve probably added years to my training career (hopefully) because of keeping things in check. This T-Nation article is also pretty awesome for band traction ideas.
Yep, totally agree with those warm-up vids and your overall approach. Big fan of that even if sometimes I get lazy about it too :P. A good warm-up is invaluable.

Yeah, I think the fact that I train with guys in their 30’s and 40’s and seen the total of just doing the bar for warm ups or just arm circles and seeing how broken a lot of them are. It keeps me focused to do the little things like a warm up before every training session so I don’t end up like them.

have i missed your meet results? or am I getting confused - you were counting down the weeks - and are now counting back up…?
I was counting down from going from offseason to in season, and now counting back up to my meet.
