Dessicated liver

I know bacteria, viruses, etc. are alive, I already stated that, but toxins are not alive by deffinition. They are chemicals that are non-organic or organic metabolites. As for the steroids, what happens is the steroid ester is kept in the blood. Once the ester is removed by the enzyme esterase, the steroid moves on to an availible receptor. Once the message is received by the cell, the steroid is destroyed, it is not stored. Furtheremore most steroids used in agriculture have very short half-lives once the ester is removed. P.S. a muscle cell is not an organ. An organ is a collection of cells.

i had no idea that a muscle was one giant cell, not a collection of cells. an organ is actually a collection of cells with a common purpose.so the target tissue for steroids is muscle tissue. and things are stored in muscle cells. look it up. calcium, phosphates, water.

I think we have really strayed from the real question here. Is dessicated liver a worthwhile supplement ? Lets see, it has real questions about quality and potential toxins that it could contain. It is also not a high quality protein when compared to whey. It is inconvenient to take. If this is your idea of a worthwhile supplement then go ahead and load up. Hey, Biotest this sounds like a real winner here. Oh, that’s right everybody used to make this…now hardly anybody does…hmmmm…

JOHN, your argument that since most companies don’t make DL anymore it must not be worth anything isn’t much good. By that definition, Biotest shouldn’t be producing Methoxy, right? (It was patented and produced back in the 70’s by that Euro company, but then was discontinued, so it “must” be worthless…) As for the other posts about any “magical” properties that DL might have, or why it might be beneficial as opposed to other sources of liver, my guess is that it’s probably the amino acid profile. But that’s just a guess. What I do know is that I myself, as well as every other person I trained (and there have been a few) made good gains when they started taking DL. No one encountered any toxicity issues, either. So here’s what I say: DL is cheap and readily available. Why not gamble 10 or 20 bucks and try it for a month? Worst case scenario, you lose your $20, (but you learn something). Best case, you make some cheap and easy gains.

what is the fascination with whey protein? yipee, its fast acting. that is not always the best case. the early guys (park, grimek, schwarzenegger) all used whole foods, there was no whey. back to the topic at hand, dl is a good supplement, if you would rather knock it (have you even tried it?) then fine. i’ll make my gains, keep my coin, and you can spend your money on the latest greatest supplement because its not old.

I was simply making fun of the following statement: “…the target organ for aas is usually the muscle cell.” Furtheremore I said the muscle will store macromolecules and nutrients (read calcium, phosphates, etc.), I disregarded H2O, because that’s a given.
