I had to really push to get through my workout in time last night. We were having municipal elections yesterday and I was part of the campaign (web design) for my boss’ wife who was running for county councillor div 2. We had a big gathering with some other people who were running for other divisions as we waited for the results to come in. It was my first foray into anything political aside from voting and I found the whole process quite interesting.
Well she won, so I’ll still have the nice little web side project that might fund either an olympic weight set or a dip station. Woo hoo!
Workout:
Blast strap circuit x 1
Bench Press
Warm-ups
5@45, 5@55, 3@70
Working sets
5@85, 3@95, 8@105 (rep PR) I would have gone for 9 if I had my spotter
DB Floor press
10@25s x 5
BB bentover row
10@65 x 5
The rest of this week’s lifting is going to be deloaded

Will do!
Last night’s workout:
3hrs karate
We had access to some of the school’s mats so we worked break falls and shoulder rolls with the kids. We did the same with the adults, but expanded it to include some takedowns which I opted out of.
Woke up to snow this morning… Part of me is dreading the winter driving and the other part is excited for snowkiting season!
Here’s what I got up to on the weekend:
Workouts:
Friday - Deloading
Blast strap circuit x 3
Military press
5@30, 5@40, 5@45
Chins
4, 3, 3
9" box squat
15@10lbs x 3
Heavy band side steps to fatigue
5 min balance work
Saturday:
Nailed a 2x4 to the roof that we can hang the blast straps from so we can get the handles higher up.
I discovered that I can hang upside down from them quite well.
I did a very minor upper body workout on the blast straps and finished with a few sets of ez-bar curls and tri extensions - didn’t record anything.
Sunday - back at it!
5 min stationary bike
Blast strap circuit x 1
Broomstick stretch
Followed by the obligatory stretching and rolling
Then my bf and I threw the dodgeball around while we watched the last quarter of the Vikings / Packers game.
Whew, that’s it I guess. Back at it this week - things are looking up!

ah, must know… what is snowkiting?
The closest comparison would be to wind surfing, except instead of a sail and board we use a large 4 line kite (eg. 10+ meters squared in surface area) and either skis or a snowboard (I board) to travel about on the snow. I love it cause I can get out riding without the lift tickets and driving to the mountains.
You control the kite with a bar and move it through the air to either generate power for speed or lift for airtime. It’s wicked fun and quite the adrenaline rush!
Plucky - Sticky hands is somewhat of a movement drill. With a partner we try and tag each other with an open hand either on the head or torso, but we have to keep contact with our opponent’s arms the whole time. Sometimes we work the drill with our eyes closed so we can get used to feeling the way an opponent moves and how to react. If that makes any sense!
MiM - No that’s not me in the pic (I don’t look quite as cool - still a beginner really), though I’d love to go kiting somewhere with that kind of terrain! Frozen lakes are pretty flat.

This drill usually leads to a pretty fatigued upper body when we work it for a significant amount of time. I hope that explains it!

On to last night’s workout:
Blast strap circuit x1
Broomstick stretch
Random foot work drills (speed ladder, leg hopping etc.)
Walking plank (walk the plank? yaarrrr!) 3 reps x 2
1 rep = walking forward 12’ and back 12’
Rolling and stretching
I got asked last minute to help run a dodgeball clinic for beginners next Monday. It should be fun, but I will have to put some sort of plan together. hmmm wrenches maybe?

Here’s a pic of me kiting on the grass, which I didn’t get to do much of this summer…
Hey there, bit of a lurker in the PW forum, decided to try and participate a bit more. Really nice workouts you got going on, good work on the chins. I love doing weighted chins
Hmmm Kiting looks pretty fun. I can relate to not getting enough of the fun stuff in, I normally go mtn biking but just could not seem to get it together this year. To much other stuff I guess.
