Depressed Germans are Funny

An American doesn’t like Germany?

Probably because you’re American and they don’t like you by default?

German beers and lagers are not bad by any means, I’m not sure what base you’re out of but maybe they sold shit quality beer/lager because you Americans dont know better? I mean, you gave the world Budweiser…lol.

Foodwise, cheese? This aint france, its Germany. You didn’t get any real meat down you? Sausages and the like are great.

German women, except for the orgre-like Eastern Germany women are great.

I think you’d have less problems if you were English. Germans like the English with a passion because 1) we’re not capable of taking ourselves as serious as the French or Americans do 2) We have the best humour in the world, 3) we took it to them in ze war and 4) WE SPEAK ENGLISH without sounding weird.

Germans like that, Americans as far as Germans are concerned are a bunch of loud-mouthed hero wannabes, it doesn’t sit well with the German mind.

My German teacher back in middle school was hot as fuck.

There. Thats as good a thing as I can think of.
Yeah, but by now she’s OLD as fuck.
She may be, but locked away in my memory is her at that time trying desperately to teach me how to pronounce U with an umlaut and me paralyzed by her features as she repeats “UUUU, like a long U.”

Maybe Germany isn’t that bad, now that I think about it.

Let’s take this thread to its logical conclusion.

Speaking of sweeping generalisations…

My wife comes from Leipzig. She’s pretty much the opposite of an ogre. This would also apply to her family and friends and to most of the girls that I see when I’m in the eastern part of the country.

I think there is a lot of truth in that. Starts with the language. We learn ENGLISH at school, Oxford-style. I.e. those Texas-Guys with multiple “R”'s in every word are simply not understandable.
We are joking about the English, for sure. The main reason is, that we just can not understand how someone can eat “Fish and Ships with vinegar” or “Beef with mint sauce”. But this is because our vinegar is different from UK-s and mint sauce has nothing to do with peppermint-drops. So it is lack on knowledge.
But you Yank’s? No, it is not lack of knowledge, it is sheere irritation.
I worked together with a lot of Americans in the Army and still do in my business now.
For a German you are a kind of Alien, Americans are not easy to judge/take for granted.
I.e. in our eyes your moods seem to swing between the extremes. We do not like that.

You’re a good man Diddy!

Dirndl is my second favorite German word…it just rolls off the tongue nicely.

fixed it for ya, Harry~

I’m glad that all you Europeans decided to respond to my generalizations with more generalizations. You sure showed the ignorant Yankee.

Maybe we all make generalizations because a categorical perception is easier to live with?

I understand that Germany wasn’t designed for my comfort, it was designed for the comfort of Germans. The same stands for any country, save Jamaica which was designed for the comfort of Americans.

As for Americans moving between extremes, I’ll give you that. We’re either calm or pissed. It’s honesty - take it or leave it.

“Schweinhund” is my personal favorite.

As much as I hate sweeping generalizations, a large proportion of the Aussies I met while living in Japan for five years were like this. Always with the quick fist, lots of racism towards the Japanese, and lots of liberties taken - where I come from, calling a stranger a “fucking cunt” as an introduction will probably get you a fist in the face.

(To be fair, lots of douchebag Canadians there as well, but the douch-o-meter for the Aussies was absolutely off the charts)

Absolutely. I didn’t really realize it at then, but as adults me and a few classmates were talking about her and she had the same effect on all of us.

Welp, Australia is where I was born and raised. But I totally agree with the amount of racism. I live in the US now with an American wife and American born son, I have permanent residency. I also have British/European citizenship and lived in various parts of England for 5 years. With all of that said. Australian racism is loud and clear and nothing is hidden, American racism is just as bad (if not worse) but frustrates me more than Australians because it is always masked under some false guise. Everybody here drops racist remarks but will never own up to it and always makes an excuse, Australians are fucking horrible and will call a chinese kid a “chink” to his face and never think anything of it. One of my brothers best friends is half Masai, but he essentially just looks black. Since black people aren’t exactly common in Australia he was routinely referred to as my brothers “nigga mate”, and it wasn’t even intended to be racist, it was just outright fuckin ignorant.
As far as calling somebody a cunt that’s just an Australian thing. Replace the words “mate”, “friend”, “bro”, “dude” etc with the word “cunt” and that’s what you have. It’s rarely a malicious word.
In the end, I have to just sum it up with a quote:
"Lady. People aren’t chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. Bastard coated bastards with bastard filling. "

Doesn’t seem that bad.
