Demigod before 35 (Aldebaran)

I had to come back to this. Man, this reply irks me in many ways. But, let’s just focus on my suggestion contra your rebuttal. 200-300g/wk is what I’m suggesting. Not the “don’t give a jolly about what or how much goes down the gullet”-approach. Like, take what you are eating now and add 250-500 calories per day to start with.

But wouldn’t that make me gain weight? Also I have zero idea of my daily calories. Eating has been chaotic and lots of eating out and even at home I stopped weighing a good 6 months ago

Fair enough, that’s a non-disingenuous counter argument.

Sorry to hear about your dad.

No, no, I get your point. I won’t try and drop calories for a few weeks. I’m still eating some forbidden food like birthday cake and stuff like that every day ahah

But I can’t be bothered to count precisely calories. I did it once for 4 months it annoyed me and didn’t changed much. I counted during or just after lockdown what a classical day I eat when trying to lean down and it was 2500 (2484) and I was aiming 2500. I know what I ate, and what I add and substract to every meal so I have an idea. But I’m more following my body, if I’m really hungry or moved a lot I’ll eat more. Probably gonna bump up a bit proteins though, haven’t been super compliant with them though.

Yesterday 14 kms hike in the “mountains” with a 650 m elevation gain and down. More than 1500 cal burned lol. We met goats, it was fun

Same. I did it one time in 2005 and it seemed stupid, haha. It works for some folks, but it can also break dudes like me who are very obsessive.

I just found it horrible, sometimes you were missing like 3 fat, 12 prots, 17 carbs and you had to scratch your head figuring what to eat before bed ahahah

It’s another reason I like being low carb; one less macro to deal with.

Exact same for me. I get way too OCD whenever I focus on shit like that, and it always ends up as a game I have to “win”. Takes over my life.

That looks awesome :ok_hand:

I had great success with low car last year when I dropped weight. I did find it effected my energy levels a little especially after a few weeks. Did you find this effected you the same or did you do something clever with timing carbs ??

I’ve been running off low-ish carbs for so long I genuinely can’t tell about energy levels at this point. This go round with weight loss, I did some experiments where I’d eat a high-ish carb meal before my squat and deadlift workouts and a high fat meal before my bench and press workouts, and I noticed that I seemed to be able to be stronger at the start of the high carb workouts and then peter out toward the end while the high fat workouts I’d struggle at the start but hit a groove soon after and feel strong to the end. But even then, my “high carb” meal was 1.5 cups of breakfast cereal with some fairlife milk and a spoonful of raw honey: definitely nothing crazy.

A big element of it is I’m a “gym zombie”. I’m VERY low energy when I train. I don’t get psyched up and I don’t move quickly: I take things at a slow and measured pace. It’s by design, as it means I don’t dip into my recovery by pushing beyond my limits as a result of being too amped. In turn, there’s never been much need for energy.

All bets are off at a strongman comp though: my primary fuel source is poptarts and gatorade. I’ve used other things before, like Hostess donettes and breakfast cereal, but always fall back on poptarts and gatorade.

I’m the same way! I mean I use the maximum amount of intensity then some while performing the lift, but after that I’m moving slow, almost moping around the gym :joy:. Never knew I wasn’t alone. Seems everybody is all yelling and getting hyped up and jumping around, which is super weird to me.

Definitely not alone. Being able to flip that switch is valuable. Things transform too: a few months back, after I had jacked up something in my abductor, I’d legit limp into the power rack, get under the bar, execute a solid set of squats, and then limp back to rest. Everything was “healed” under the bar.

Hell yea dude! Glad I have something in common with you, gives me hope :joy:
I actually had a lady stop me at planet fitness on the way out (she worked there), she wanted to know how old I was. Said she had never seen someone train so “mature” and “with purpose” :joy: didn’t know what she meant but I thanked her?

I know a few coaches, especially in the powefliting and o-lifting world that advocate this. Lifting with purpose and focus, calmness.

Jacked 31 - Day 2 - 09/10

A. Zercher squat with 5 secs hold at mid-range 4 x 5 with 90 kgs

B. Military press with 5 secs hold at mid-range 4 x 5 with 50,50, 45, 45 kgs

C. Banded RDL with 5 secs hold at peak contraction 4 x 5 with 140 kgs + 35kgs band

D. Machine row with 5 secs holds at peak contraction 4 x 5 with 45 kgs

E1. Lateral raises 8,6,4,6,8 reps with 12, 14, 18, 16, 14 kgs

E2. Barbell facepulls 8, 6, 4, 6, 8 with 30, 40, 45, 40, 30 kgs

This was a tough one. Probably tired by the previous day’s hike. Zercher were tough as balls. I relaly think I did train too hard there. I had to give it all and wait a long time. The 5 secs holds were just destroying my quads, and there’s nothing more terrible for the abs. My quads and ass were sore as fuck after this. I had skipped a meal, nothing before training and it certainly showed there. i was feeling a bit hypo and dizzy.

I tried going a bit wider on OHP. After seeing @T3hPwnisher vids of course I wanted to try wider a month ago, but I think I took too wide. Despite being tall and all, too wide is meh even for bench. i just tried a bit wider this time and heck yeah my shoulders and traps were burning like they never did. Iso hold were tough as well.

RDLs were hard as fuck at first. I just wanted to do 3 sets and quit. After the second set I was dead. i waited more, recollected myself and used purpose and focus, no excitement. Two following sets felt much better, really easier.

Never used this machine row before and it was super hard. I don’t know if this is this or the RDLs and but my left back/traps have been very sore and out of whack, like if I had badly slept since.

Raises were nice, I was surprised by my strength there with a super strict form. Nice popping of delt and great separation beginning to appear.

Next week i’ll keep the same weight, except for OHP where I am confident I’ll be using 47/50 no problemo. Probably will use less weight on RDLs but more band weight.

And yeah I think (and you’ll say of course we are) that you are right guys. it’s just in my head, and I have to be more confident. Always was self-depreciating and with a lack of confidence, but even i can achieve nice thing with work and will.

3 years ago I was in the CREPS (my sport “school”) for some interviews for menial jobs like McDonalds, and I would have never, ever thought I would end up a student there.

3 years ago, the first time I saw my ex, I was like “wow I’ll never have a girl so beautiful etc” and two years later when she was single, she approached me. Well she just added me on Facebook, I did all the rest. I had to move my ass and wouldn’t have had anything without.

And I’m just doing the same right now, putting so much pressure on myself at school when everyone is complimenting me and calling me Clark Kent lol. I’m always finding excuses. I saw my crush and I was “no way bro, don’t even think about it, she’s out of your league”. Then we talked later and I was hooked, but I’m just finding myself excuses not to ask her out or anything, when in reality I just have nothing to lose.

Let’s have some balls and trust the process, and myself.

Gym are closed one more week, and I won’t be able to go to it tomorrow. So I don’t know if next time I do the concentric day or just start next week. Probably the concentric.

You can put me into this same category. I move around like a sloth at the gym.

We should start a club

Right, but what will we call it.

I was like that as well yesterday. So slow. Most likely because it was so exhausting

All day with Marc Vouillot about strength today, it was amazing. Afternoon we did 1 RM on the deadlift, then set of 10 at 70% then sets to failure with 50%

Actually the only one who did 180 with good form (only one other managed to do it at all), felt good being complimented by him. All the other people had horrible technique.

Snuck in a couple of reps at 115 on bench and asked for form advice as well. Really surprised by how easy it was. deads were tough though. I’m horribly tired by this weekend and all, so no gym tonight. Cooking a big ass pizza. It’s only 5 pm here and I think I’m going to bed in a couple of hours. I’m at wit’s end fatigue wise ahahah I need sleeeep

Asked my crush out but nope she has a bf. Well whatever I stepped out of my comfort zone and dared, so that’s nice. Now I can focus more on lifting and studying ahah
