Conjugate Bodybuilding - Day 21 - 21/08

Tough one, I had lots of triceps soreness from last upper body session 2 days prior, but I figured it would probably be better to be fresh for max effort than speed/volume day.

Had not pushed press ina while, they were reaaaaally hard on my triceps, this slow eccentric, damn…

Got nice chest feelings from the dips, which is not often the case for me, so that’s nice.

Barely cheated the front raises, but the curls were way harder than anticipated! Tried not to cheat too much, I had not done these in years lol, and I really thought I could put more weight ahah

So I think these 2 and a half month in the gym have been productive. I’m similarly lean as just post lockdown but I’m certainly heavier and stronger (86) Still aiming to lose 2-3 more kgs

Well after yesterday’s session I should be called Mr. Lower back. What the hell seriously

Looks like not much work, felt like an eternity. Waited more and warmed-up more for the front squat and it felt better, no upper back weakness this time at least! So I don’t know if it’s all the back and trap work, or getting used to the lift. Not sleep at least because I went out again.

Oh funny story, my first gunshots (we’re not used to that in Europe) on friday after the club’s closing, in the street next to us (which is in front of another club full of dealers and whores) people were shooting at each other. Cops came by, people running everywhere, and this was in a cutthroat kind of part of the city lol. The club’s owner made us go inside and wait for the turmoil to cool down ahahah. But I barely drank at elast. Then I went out on saturday (why am I so weak)? So Today I slept for almost 10 h, let the PR be done.

Tried to stay as upright as I could in all instance. It’s really hard. Could do a better job of keeping my elbows higher.

The zercher goodmornings really destroyed my lower back. Tough as balls for real.

Decided to do some high pulls today, but I had trouble geeting my elbows as high as I wanted (at least the video angle suggests it). After the second set I was completely exhausted, no juice left. Went all out on the extensions, no rest after this, my whole backside was burning and I was grunting like a fighting hog after 10 reps

Decided to do DBs clean agains. i was completely fried, and had not the mental fortitude to settle on BSS. Plus I was wondering if yeah the extra upper back work with alkl these cleans is not what’s helping my posture in the front squat. So I kept them, let’s trust the man.

I know I’ve been saying that for some times but it’s really time I bring some intra ahah. These 2 hours nightmares are really draining me. I’m visibly leaner than yesterday today lol

I am torn between congratulating you on the nice front squat double and asking you what the hell is wrong with you for doing front squats in the first place.

Thanks a lot guys but I don’t see 140 happening before quite some time. Next week is a single. 125 for sure, maybe 130. We’ll see about recovery, working a lot this weekend and probably not sleeping on saturday.

I need to put more meat on my legs. Also focus on unilateral stuff next program

Strong as fuck. A heavy back squat is one thing but a heavy front squat is really impressive to me. Should be a good fit for you given your build (I. E. I applaud the choice from a BB perspective)

My knees don’t like them ahah. They are not super happy today. They are frail (like, they hurt after friday’s dancing ahah). My body wants to lean forward with these long legs. For the front squat I have to be almost all quads to stay upright. So I really need to strengthen them more.

How much unilateral work do you do? I like supported split squats (one hand on the rack). If it doesn’t feel good in the joint I’d imagine it’s a stabilisation issue of the joint. As you know, pauses during the lift usually remedies that as it teaches the antagonists to synergise better.

Yeah I’m planing on focusing on unilateral work next program. Right now not much, only leg curls.

I “like” these split squats as well (really hate all unilateral work ahahah) probably coming from lunges where I have terrible balance (one foot collapsing outwards, the other inwards)

And I think you’re right, as my my left leg is the weakest, and the one that bothers me the most

I feel you. My right glute is lazy compared to my left. My remedy is when I brush my teeth I close my eyes and balance one minute on each leg. Whenever I forget, my body forgets my glute.

With lunges, are you talking about walking lunges? Have you tried taking super-short steps on those? I find that makes a world of difference, not to amend balance problems (I don’t really have that), but it hits the quads markedly better than taking a normal length step for me.

For balance improvements, single straight-leg deadlifts are superb. I recommend two kettlebells of equal weight in each hand if the aim is to amend balance issues. Afterwards, you can re-use the exercise in a different block but only load one side of the body to work your core simultaneously in a somewhat functional way.
