These two things feel related to me. Once I get over a cup or two of coffee a day, my sleep will be impacted that night, guaranteed. As always, your mileage may vary.
That sounds absolutely awesome. I mean, apart from the running, but there’s something about being out in nature and active early in the morning before everyones up that’s really relaxing. I love it.
Indeed, indeed, but caffeine or not won’t make my dreams. At least I think? It’s just that this this morning I woke up a bit too earlier and I had not recovered from the two previous nights (and this stupid weekend).
Ahahah and I jumped in cold, with an army guy. Hard at first but after 20 mins it was easy. Not a big fan of running myself. But yeah I enjoy more and more going in the nature
I think this is absolutely brilliant for mental health, as well as physical.
The effects of caffeine can take a while to wear off if you’ve become habituated to using it. I don’t know how much you usually use but I find that once my use is stable, and low, sleep quality is better.
I heard someone say once that alcohol is like borrowing happiness from tomorrow. My thoughts are that caffeine is like borrowing energy from tomorrow.
Obviously, became a caffein addict in college. Reduced significantly a few years ago, to one cup of coffee plus around 4 cups of chicory (half the cafeine). But when I’m on a diet like right now, and it’s hot here in the South of France, I can go on a Diet coke binge and I really don’t know how much that represents.
Your mileage may vary, but the times in my life where I’ve habitually drunk more caffeine also coincide with the times I’ve been habitually exhausted. This obviously isn’t everyones experience but for me, keeping a decent life on caffeine use has kept me far more awake and with far more energy than not doing so, even in very trying circumstances.
Caffeine, cortisol, nor-adrenaline, adrenaline, and dopamine all seem to be caught up in one another quite intimately. I cap out my consumption at 4 cups of coffee equivalents (so, if I have green tea I’m borrowing from my coffee allowance).
I haven’t really quantified my caffeine allowance, but I do similar. Most days I have 2/3 cups of tea (green or proper), and a cup of coffee. Sometimes I’ll drink more tea and cut coffee, sometimes I’ll have a diet coke and reduce tea or coffee, but it ends up around the same amount.
I know this is a cultural thing, but here brew coffee is pretty common. Like, before I started looking into it I’d easily drown myself in about a litre of coffee. When the medical studies says “x cups” and what a cup in my cupboard is aren’t the same measurements even. But, I’ve since downscaled my intake significantly and feel consistently better.
You climbed at 4am? Fair play, sounds like a good way to start the day.
I just need to learn that the reason i feel tired isn’t the caffeine, its “other stuff”. Energy levels =/= caffeine levels, that’s too basic thinking. If I’m struggling, I’m getting something wrong in my work/rest/play/pray balance.
