Defund the Police! Wait, Bring Them Back!

I agree it was bizarre.

Well shit forgot to log in to my H_Factor 2 account.

Cost to bring a drug to market here is generally between 1.5 - 4 Billion dollars (as of previous work, may be changing). You get 1 good candidate out of 10s of thousands of candidate drugs.

I’m not a fan of direct marketing of drugs to consumers but shit is broken, and not ALL of it is on the pharma company side.

Our budget; SWAT, largely comes from the Police Foundation and donations.

Ha… Not familiar with him / he / zer. Just tired of people folding to unhinged mobs of losers and non contributing vermin

This is why I can’t stand it when these people like AOC just bring up profit instead of net revenue. I think the US is one of the only countries in the world that allows advertising of prescription only drugs. The marketing costs also have to be taken into consideration and that could also add up to a billion depending on the type of drug.

For all I know they could still be making a net loss if the drug has just been in the market for a couple of years. I have no idea what that drug is nor can I be bothered to go research on it. It’s why I just ignore it when people like AOC bring up ā€œprofitsā€. The word means nothing to me without any other information about their financial statements. But it works on people who have never had to do their own financial statements and send them to the tax man before.

The only thing I know about drugs for aids is from watching Dallas Buyers Club lol and it was the FDA that was the villain.

It’s self-explanatory.

Should they have military equipment at all?

And they are controlled by who?

That was a movie. M.O.V.I.E. How the fuck am I going to know the actual situation?

The whole point of the hearing and video is how pharma is not spending money on R&D and the grounding patents were developed by the government. So how is the cost of the drug charged by pharma justified?

Show me their financial statements. There’s nothing else to argue about without seeing them first.

A better question is:

Why isn’t AOC ploughing through their financial statements and picking them apart to fuck them if they’re really doing something terribly wrong? These guys are public listed and audited. She has access to them.

So if the U.S. government wouldn’t have put the effort in, then the drug and it’s generics would never have existed.

Yes, that may be true. What’s your point?

So why does Big Pharma get price gouge the public causing them to suffer and die?

How do you know this is ā€œprice gougingā€? Like I said, it’s about net revenue. Would you get off your ass and invent something that takes years without the promise of a good return for your efforts EVEN if someone offered to fund 100% of the costs? Would you invest in a company without the promise of seeing financial returns? Everyone, including AOC, has their money in a portfolio because they anticipate it will appreciate at least more than the rate of inflation. Do you think this will happen if the companies they invested in were making a net loss?

And, yes, I know lots of systems are broken. They’re broken EVERYWHERE IN THE WORLD, just in different ways. The sun rises in the morning and sets in the evening. Governments suck. Corporations suck. People suck. Jimmy Fallon sucks. Tell me something new lol.

Why din’t the CEO being questioned push back harder? He corrected her on price and revenue. If she was so wrong wouldn’t it make sense for him to pick her apart, but he didn’t, why?

But some suck more.

People are suffering and dying because of the price, which he doesn’t deny. So if even death due to expense isn’t price gouging to you what is? Is this the way a healthcare system is supposed to work or is it just designed that way? Maybe the $8/month in Australia is price gouging to you because it’s a generic.

Do you think profit takes precedence over all no matter the consequences? Do you have money invested in a company who helps people to suffer and even die?

I’m not interested in continuing this exchange. You go have fun with others.

Didn’t think so.
