Defatted Peanut Butter?

Check out your local whole foods, or natural food store. One around my way has a peanut grinder. Fresh ground peanut butter has an unusually thick, pasty texture, and it takes a couple of weeks for the oil to separate out. By then it is long gone.

I can’t eat cheese. I’m allergic. :frowning:

What kind of natural peanut butter would you guys recommend? The last natural peanut butter I tried tasted pretty terrible. I’ve been buying the regular, hydrogenated soybean oil and sugar-filled kind for way to long, and I need some sort of recommendation before I attempt the leap back into the healthy stuff.

I eat PB everyday and have been experimenting for awhile to find the best stuff. I like the taste of Skippy Natural and it has fewer calories than the Smuckers. I tried this PB called Naturally More at a friend’s in Ohio once, but have been struggling to find it around here. http://www.peanutsnack.com/
It has fewer calories and fewer carbs, and has added flaxseed, but I think it still retains the good fats. Try to find that if you can! Rule of thumb: Just be sure the ingredients are only “peanuts, salt” and the PB is natural. :)[/quote]

Thanks for the great suggestions.

Yes my grocery store also grinds their own. Just look around.

I second this. Looks like someone bought into the FUD spread by the dairy industry. When I decide to add milk back into my diet (and I do use whey products like Metabolic Drive, I just don’t drink milk at the current time as I’m trying to clear up some acne issues), I’m gonna go with a local cow-share program where I can get raw, unprocessed milk.

Smuckers Natural all the way!!! I didn’t like the taste of it at first, because I was used to the sugary PB I ate before, but after 3 bottles, I got used to it and love it. It’s the only kind of PB I buy now.

Pardon my ignorance, but what are the benefits of the 100% natural milk that you all speak of? I’m not questioning you guys, I just think it’s interesting to find out.

http://www.realmilk.com/ just go to this site, sure some of it is hyperbole but it will give you the general idea and if you have more questions after feel free to ask more questions.

I eat Smucker’s Organic PB. It is different than Smucker’s Natural I guess but it tastes good and doesn’t have any sugar/hydrogenated oils added.

Yeah, but you’re a cheesehead. What do you know.

Just kidding. Thanks for the suggestion! :-*

Skippy Natural Creamy is great.

Bad news… I just realized Skippy Natural has added sugar. :frowning:

I bought the Kroger brand Natural in creamy and in chunky. It has just “roasted peanuts, salt.” And it’s yummy too, much stirring needed though! Cheaper than Smuckers, and about 20cal less per serving. I’m still trying to have stores here stock Naturally More, waiting on email replies from a few stores…

I like that this entire forum is on peanut butter. We rock.

Peanut butter for the win!

I get my peanut butter at Costco as I do almost everything. 2 normal sized jars of Organic Natural Peanut butter for about 9 dollars. “peanuts and salt” as ingredients. Mixes easy and even “normal” Skippy eating people like it.

so guys, i have no option for an all-natural PB here where i live, thinking of making my own homemade PB like this:

about 2 cups of roasted, unsalted peanuts (or raw, and roast em yourself)
2-4 Tbsp vegetable, canola, peanut oil… whatever you like best.
1/2 tsp salt

Mix peanuts and about half the oil, and the salt together so everything is good and coated.

Transfer this into a blender, and blend til smooth, adding more oil to get the consistency you like, as you need it.

any1 tried a homemade PB?

have fun.

I know this is an old thread but i compete in 7 days and all i wanna talk about is peanut butter.
I can’t believe no one said adam’s!!! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it. Costco’s organic is bangin as well, I’m gonna bring a jar in my competition bag…I want to walk off stage and into a jar of extra crunchy all natural peanut butter.
