But if it is wrong to drink milk from animals - wouldn’t it follow that it is wrong to breast feed your children?

I think the argument is that it is wrong to keep animals captive merely to extract their milk for human consumption; not that milk consumption is wrong.

From a dietary perspective humans aren’t meant to drink any milk other than their mother’s. We can see evidence of this with lactose intolerance.

I do very well with milk and other dairy products.

Ants drink a secretion from aphids much the same way humans drink milk.

People are allergic to all kinds of foods. That does not mean all humans are not meant to eat them, just that certain people are unfortunate.

It is time to stop spreading PETA propaganda.
I am not necssarily arguing from a perspective from which I follow. I just recently stopped drinking milk because I was having BM issues…want details?

From a genetic perspective it doesn’t stand to reason that we should be any different that our ancestors from a 400 generations ago–about 10,000 years. Many geneticists will tell you that is not enough time to completely adapt to a new product. It only stands to reason that we adapted with what we had available to the human diet for the last 2 million years. The last 10,000 since the advent of agriculture are merely a blib in that respect.

Here is more on the subject of the natural human diet that is a defense against vegetariansim.

Does that also mean that we were not meant to eat shell fish? Or strawberries? Or pinto beans?

Just because some folks have the inability to eat certain foods is not a blanket judgment on all humans.

Besides - if you couldn’t feel the sarcasm dripping from my statement…well then you just missed the entire point of that post.
My argument was not that because we could potentially be allergic but because certain foods have not been in the human diet long enough (compared to how long they weren’t in our original diet) to allow for genetic adaption.

For example before the advent of processing many food were inaccessable to us because they actually require modification to make them palatable…legumes (soy) are such an item. Before the controlled use of fire we could not eat legumes, tubers or grains. Milk didn’t enter the diet until livestock were farmed. That was the only basis for my statement.

I got the sarcasm…the reason for which I made my statement in the first place. Did I misunderstand your sarcasm as being pro cow milk?

I am familiar with that argument and I dismiss it. They have identified the gene that seperates people that tolerate dairy from people that do not tolerate dairy.

Some natural selection clearly has occurred in certain populations. I happen to be one of the lucky people that handles milk well.

And while I have no evidence to the contrary I am still skeptical of the 10,000 years of agriculture argument.

This is a talking point used by people that do not believe we should eat grains or drink milk.

It is quite possible man has practiced agriculture for longer than this and we have not discovered this yet.

From a sociological perspective, men shouldn’t lust after anything except cartoon characters. We can see evidence of this with Hentai.

Because people want to look for fault, logical fallacy, and general malintent in their fellow human beings so they can feel better about their own misgivings. While I am criticizing you I can forget my own faults, if for only a brief second.

a. because the best defense is a good offense.

b. some people like to nit-pic in the mistaken belief that they are having an intelligent debate.

c.some people have no sense of humor and are totally clueless about the art of sarcasm.

d. all of the above.
I guess that’s the last word on that.

hentai fucked up my brain >_<

I guess all that soy went to their heads. Wouldn’t be surprised if this little plant caused mental retardation.
