It may only be true in the movies but I believe child molesters and rapiest are the lowest on the prison food chain. Oh well, the dad better start liking meat because his scrawny ass is going to get force fed plenty of “meat”.

There’s no need get fresh. You know that’s not what you wrote.
The story wasn’t reported enough IMO. The stupidity of this tragedy and the means to avoid it need to be part of some form of compulsory nutritional education in schools, much like sex-ed.

Riiiight. What I wrote was, “
I am glad this happened. I think it is sad that a baby lost its life, but how much neglect does it take to avoid noticing your baby is wasting away and that 3lbs isn’t exactly healthy body weight for a newborn?
”
There should have been no confusion. Clearly I did NOT write that I was glad a baby died. Why does every single post on this forum need to be written in so much detail as to rival college text books for people to stop questioning everything written? Don’t worry, it’s not just you.

What do you mean it’s not just me? I didn’t say anything!!! Why bring me into this conversation?
(kidding)
I was going to post this last week, but I wasn’t sure most news stories were giving the full story. It seemed almost unfair to vegans to label these guys “vegans”. It almost seemed like they were trying to kill their baby on purpose and come up with an excuse. That, or they were truly stupid beyond comprehension.
First, I don’t think any vegan would try to make the argument that breastfeeding your own baby was against their beliefs.
Second, these guys gave birth at home, and never took the baby to a doctor in its short, sad life. Who knows what prenatal care they received.
Third, the soy milk containers found in their house were labeled that they were not to be used as baby formula. As stupid as I think it would be to give your kid soy formula, it probably would have kept the kid alive.
I don’t support the vegan lifestyle, but it just seems like there was a whole lot of other things going on here.

You have a profound capacity to deceive yourself. At least you didn’t try to edit it. That all caps “LOL!” is right there at the top of the post. There is clearly nothing funny about what happened or anything to be glad about, considering that there is no way that this wouldn’t have made the news.
Serves them right.
Many vegans feed their babies breast milk. I don’t know where they got off feeding the baby soy milk instead of breast milk, but ALL babies need breast milk.
They’re going to love prison because they’re going to be getting a lot of meat in there.

I agree. I think that the vegan defense was just a way to try and wriggle out of a murder charge. The baby weighed 3.5 pounds. My friends had a premature baby that weighed 3 pounds and when you see a child that small it is shocking.
You don’t think “Cute baby” You think “Oh my god. It’s so small I can’t believe that it’s alive.”
These people had to have been aware that their baby was in trouble and needed medical attention.
As a parent I am sickened by this beyond description.
What a couple of stupid assholes. Probably some kind of scumbag hippy retards.

But if it is wrong to drink milk from animals - wouldn’t it follow that it is wrong to breast feed your children?
I think the argument is that it is wrong to keep animals captive merely to extract their milk for human consumption; not that milk consumption is wrong.
From a dietary perspective humans aren’t meant to drink any milk other than their mother’s. We can see evidence of this with lactose intolerance.

Because people want to look for fault, logical fallacy, and general malintent in their fellow human beings so they can feel better about their own misgivings. While I am criticizing you I can forget my own faults, if for only a brief second.

a. because the best defense is a good offense.
b. some people like to nit-pic in the mistaken belief that they are having an intelligent debate.
c.some people have no sense of humor and are totally clueless about the art of sarcasm.
d. all of the above.

I do very well with milk and other dairy products.
Ants drink a secretion from aphids much the same way humans drink milk.
People are allergic to all kinds of foods. That does not mean all humans are not meant to eat them, just that certain people are unfortunate.
It is time to stop spreading PETA propaganda.

I agree with the vegan defense, I’m actually surprised no vegans are protesting. I would also like to see how much soy milk they were giving this kid. It seems that babies use any and everything as nutrition and even though soy milk would not be as good as breast it would be at least enough to sustain life. They had to be starving this kid.

Not to nitpick, but that is a contradictory statement.
You agree the vegan defense should be given credibility yet state they must have been starving the kid?
Being vegans had nothing to do with this.
Being a couple of stupid, irresponsible losers who don’t even have the sense to recognize they are starving an infant to death is the central issue here.
The vegan thing was just a diversion from reality. I know a vegan couple and am certain they would never starve their infant.
that article sucks. sensational media sucks. the headline misrepresents vegans and gives the impression that veganism killed their child which is not so. even on this site it has frothed up vegan-hate, which is stupid in a supposedly free society. if people hate vegans for whatever reasons that’s their own business but why would they then give a shit if there’s one less vegan hippie in the world ?

Does that also mean that we were not meant to eat shell fish? Or strawberries? Or pinto beans?
Just because some folks have the inability to eat certain foods is not a blanket judgment on all humans.
Besides - if you couldn’t feel the sarcasm dripping from my statement…well then you just missed the entire point of that post.
