I’m not trying to pick a fight or be a dick, I really would like to discuss this in a civil way.

I am very curious to their point of view.

perhaps I am thinking about it all wrong?

I actually made some cop friends and most felt really shitty about leaving, however they were told to follow orders and get back on the street. That they were not paid to stand around hitting on nurses in the ER.
Hmmm…I never had a cop hit on me…you must be pretty cute…lol jk
Hahahahahaha actually the other reason I had to leave that setting, there were a couple of REALLY good looking female Mexican cops. I love my wife, but the cop had handcuffs I mean really what was I supposed to do.
damnit, no hot female cops where i work…there are some insanely hot mexican medics that I would hit like a hammer of the gods though.

hot thick Latina’s, they are my kryptonite. i even married one.

Same here, 4’11" 115 pounds Ass like a Brazilian goddess, she is also a FNP. Check out my HUB I have picts of her in there.

they often will not stay even for that, or give us a hard time and say shit like “you really think that is necessary?”

If I got out of line though, I bet they would handle me with due roughness.

Yea if I was getting that type of response I would be a pissed off MF myself. My ass would be in Admin office requesting some type of action. Hospital Admin rub elbows with Police force Admin etc. Or all you need is a couple of Workers comp claims of being assaulted that might wake them up.

Didnt show up and I did put her in there early this year. Hell because of that thread is the reason she has done cross fit for a year now. She dropped like 25 pounds and looks like she is in her 20’s again. I am chasing her around the house all the time with my hand on her ass.

Edit: okay now showed up. Nice yourself, like beans and Print keep telling me on here you married up.

our administration SUCKS.

one particular frequent flier has put THREE nurses on medical leave. they still wont do anything about it.

apparently, it will take another innocent PATIENT being hurt seriously, for them to take action. they sure as hell don’t care if we get hurt.

I remember years ago I was at a club where a fight broke out outside between a couple of guys I didnt know and one guy had his face beaten to a pulp, was barely able to stand and was IMO in need of medical attention. It's hard to say how much was due to being drunk. There were several cops leaning against their cars on the road right in front of the club who were witness to it all and I asked if one of them would call an ambulance. They chuckled and refused. I had only a drink or so that night so I dont think my perception was off.

I realize this shit probably happens every night at these places but I’m wondering what everyone here’s opinion of this is. There is no doubt the guy caused his own damage. He was not in a state where he was refusing any help and he wasn’t aggressive at the time either, because if that was a problem then the cops should have been hauling him to the drunk tank.

My opinion is they should have called the ambulance. I didn’t know the guy so he probably went home and woke up in some pain and was okay but who knows.

Okay that really really fucking sucks. Sometimes it shit like this that makes me see the reason for unions for nursing. I am typical southern guy who didnt believe we should have a union, but WTF else are you supposed to do?

we have a union, but they are pussies, bending over backwards for the administration. our union is CNA (california nurses association) and we have some of the lowest pay in this area. the smaller hospitals who send us all of their trainwrecks and patients that are otherwise to complicated or difficult for them to care for, they make more than us. they are union too, but they have a real union (Steelworkers union)

probably a liability issue. the guy was injured, so if they got involved at all, in any way, they might be held liable for any health care he received or did not received.

too bad the cops are not held to the same standards and hospitals are in california. EMTALA laws state we are responsible and totally liable for the health and well being of anybody within a 250 yard radius of hospital property.

Didnt know you were in Cali, again honestly I had to get out of that shit. Of course I was working 2 ER’s and going to Grad school. So I got burnt it was getting the point I was about ready to really throw down. My hats off to you man, I tapped out, keep up the fight.

haha, dj, this thread officially hijacked…haha

Yes, and you two suck at the hijacking.

I do believe we have all lost interest now.

If it wasn’t for shaking butt cheeks, I wouldn’t even be typing this now.

Not the same thing at all. Get out on your own.

Cops stand around and let others do CPR. I have seen it first hand EMT’s will back this up. When they come on scene a civilian usually is providing first aid, not the cop.

Cops avoid it like the plague.

In my area the wages are low if you aren’t on a big city police dept. or the state police. I see starting salaries for small town part time police officers at 10$-13$ per hour. It’s all relative.
They start relatively low every where but the jumps in salary are huge. My friend started out at about $15 an hour but made $80,000 by his 5th year. I admit I don’t know what cops are making in states outside of NJ, but don’t look at their starting salaries. Look at their salaries after 5-10 years. Like most other union jobs, you start out with shit pay.

myself having health care experience in the field…I have seen this too firsthand. I said it earlier in this thread. this is more often the case.
