Deads a Powerlifting Maneuver?

EC,

Any hip, knee, calf, hamstring stretches you could direct me to for recovery? My hips, especially having difficulty lifting my legs up.

Thanks, Panterarosa. Lots of good info there!

Eric, yeah, I knew that part about not being in the supine position. Reason for that is because it puts pressure on the vena cava (I think I have that right) and restricts blood supply to the baby. It’s an issue when there is more weight to press down on it, hence the 2nd & 3rd trimester warning.

Thanks!

These days the training lines between bodybuilder and powerlifter seem to be blurring. I think for the better. I think most bodybuilders who don’t would do very well to incorporate powerlifter type training into their lifting. Improving strength of course improves hyptertrophy. Deadlifts, squats, etc… help achieve this. Who would want to be all show and no go, anyhow? I wouldn’t.

Don’t have any pregnancy-specific advice. Other than to be careful with exercises where balance is important. Sorry.

Nah, don’t apologize. You’re right. My balance may come into question with squats AND deads, though. :frowning: No big. Quite honestly, it’s just a few mos of limited weight lifting. shrug

I would do a LOT of stretching, too, especially of the low back. You’re in for a lot of low back strain from carrying the baby both during pregnancy and after, so a low back that is loose enough to be flexible without a warm-up might prevent a lot of strain and discomfort.

Well I think that when woman just sit on there ass for a month they have a hell of a time pushing it out about the baby. Think about it, if you sat on your ass for a month and then tried to bench how much would it go down.

I know not everyone sits on their ass for 9 months when they are pregnant but my mom did except when she was throwing frying pans at me.

I would suggest you do it but don’t do anything that would give you a hurrnia however it’s spelled. Also, don’t believe that crap that your eating for two. That’s a bunch of crap, I mean don’t do a extreme cutting diet but don’t double your food intake, and anyways when was the last time you saw a baby eat as much as you did. Never, that’s where mom’s gain 60 lbs.

When your doing lifts push out your stomach and hold it instead of pulling it in and holding it tight. This helps because this is the correct way and it won’t mess with the baby.

Got issues? (You’re not alone. Therapy is a good thing.)

It’s hernia  and I know. This is my 3rd - I’ve pretty much got it in the bag on most pregnancy related stuff.

Interesting.

Thanks!
