Deadliest Warrior

Who thinks this show is a freakin joke? As a person who is very interested in history, especially military history and weaponry… I can’t stand watching it.I mean seriously…you have a bunch of grown men acting like 6 year olds about to start a fight on the playground. Ive watched a few episodes because nothing was on…the only person who I havent seen act like a total jack ass was chuck lidell, they were even talkin shit with him and he actually acted like an adult and wasn’t baited into this shit. (im not a fan of MMA…i thought he would be annoying as the rest but he didnt say much at all and was pretty soft spoken lol)

Everything from weapon choices, testing, experts…everything about this show sucks. I’m sure the producers of the show have something to do with it but man does it suck. The episode I watched today had an “expert” misrepresenting historical facts left and right…ffs.

even the testing lab is called “the fight club”

Thoughts?

It’s pure entertainment value, just like fight science and all those other shitty programs. Anyone who takes anything off this show as factual is an idiot.

The only good this show serves is a 2 minute segment that serves to prove to Weeabo nerds that Katana are not blades shat from the almighty’s ass cauldron, and that they cannot cut through mail, and therefore, as most bladed weapons are: useless against plate. Weeabo nerds have a very hard time swallowing that European knights decked out in plate were virtually the middle age’s panzer tanks.

I think you’re missing the point. This is like claiming Spiderman 2 isn’t an appropriate depiction of New York. It’s a show that has ninjas fighting Spartans, and if you’re watching it for any other reason than the fact that it has NINJAS FIGHTING SPARTANS… you may have your priorities mixed up.

I tune in for the last 5 minutes to watch the battle scene. I enjoy their realistic nature and accurate portrayal of the combatants.

be thankful you arent a reenactor who prides himself that the group he belongs to strives for a fairly acurate portrayal of C.14th medieval life. pretty much any historical film (apart from laurence oliviers stuff)is a pain to watch unless i get drunk beforehand.

Yeah, thinking really takes the fun out of TV, hehe…
My main problem with the show is ‘the State of the Art Military Software’ they keep mentioning, the one that does the calculation of who would win. Wtf, US army has a software that can predict who would won in a fight between a pirate and a knight? That’s AWESOME.

In general,
It’s funny how everyone who has a special interest or some education often feels like that. You see a TV show about something you know well, and you are just disturbed with its stupidity.
What really bugs me, though, is if I can tell this show is stupid because I know about the subject, how many other shows are full of crap, and I just don’t know enough to notice it?

The show is not horribly accurate, look at last season when they did the Maori vs Shaolin monks- the only reason that computer had the monks win is because one metal weapon. Don’t get my wrong watching them butcher dead cows with a battle axe is fun, but don’t watch this for accuracy. - Also the cut scenes piss me off, last year they had the pirate get hit in the head with a morning star three times and just get back up, last time I checked one hit (in the head) from those would kill you. Sorry I am a medieval historian and reenactor.

The show always disappoints. I think they don’t have a clue as to how to get anything close to real. This is all about entertainment and giving a 30 min show a dramatic conclusion. Even if its based in some show writers mind.

Lol

Pirate vs Knight anyone?
I’m waiting for the next series - caveman vs F16 …
They should do an animal version, with the same bullshit tests.
I’ve always wondered what would win, Bee vs Wasp … …

There are videos on Youtube of that. Scorpion vs. scarab beetle comes to mind.

Still beats anything on TLC these days.

Obviously it needs to be taken with a grain of salt, but I think the demonstrations are interesting. I also find the bickering very entertaining.

Fuck it I like the thinking that went into the making of the show. Hell I grew up debating Hulk Vs Superman, Wolverine VS Spiderman. This is just more of the same except with money thrown at it.

I got one:

Young Johhny Cash VS General Lee

Frederick Douglas VS Rush Limbagh

Larry Sanders VS Carlos Mencia

Wu Tang Clan VS Metalica

This show kicks ass. The only thing better would be if they had real people fight to the death or at least show live executions.

I was watching Spetsnaz VS the IRA last night (cuz it was on at a friends house). They had a “weapons test” where a guy had to kick through a series of doors and shoot an “enemy” (a 3’ x 4’ picture of a dood) and NOT shoot a “non-combatant” (a 3’ x 4’ picture of a girl). keep in mind they are testing the WEAPON. So on one of the tests, the IRA guy misses one of the targets (obvious operator error, not weapon failure). So these moron’s start debating about weather or not he would have “gotten past” the first “combatant” that he missed and weather or not they should count the rest of the test. This “miss” caused the IRA GUN to lose the weapon matchup…

logic - FAIL

The whole show is like this: and at the end you’ve got the smug computer douche bag stating, “out of a thousand battles, XXX won”. Riiiiiiight…

It is cool to watch the disappointment when they lose, though. They go out talking shit!

Concession: SOMETIMES it’s cool to watch them blow shit up or cut a pig in half, but other than that, it’s pretty ghey.

So AC what If you were the producer and could pic up the magic red phone and make the show the way you wanted it, how would you change things?

As someone who works with social and combat simulation in the defense industry, their models and what they claim they can do/pretend to do is a joke.

I like seeing the weapons and armor bash and get bashed though.
