I'm in Day 3 of the ANABOLIC diet, and have two basic questions where I think I could be doing something wrong:
1 - I’m drinking 1.25 to 1.5 gallons of water a day. Should I be doing this as part of this diet or not?
2 - My ratios and foods are good, but my calories are at 2,514. Does that sound about right? I’m trying to cut, drop body fat percentage. I’m 6’0 175…about 13 to 14% body fat.
3 - In 3 days I’ve gained nearly 1.0 lb. Is this normal at the start?
Thanks in advance.

water’s definitely a good idea on ANY low carb eating plan. Anabolic Diet is no exception.

That might be a little high but it really depends on how many calories you were putting away on a daily basis before you got started on the diet?? For example if you were consistently eating 3000-3500 calories a day before, then yes, 2514 is great. If not then…I used to eat around that number but I’m 6’5" 260 lbs or so year round.

hmmm, normally you drop a ton of weight in the first 3 days of the diet. As you cut out all the carbs, you should flush a ton of water with it, hence the rapid weight loss. During the weekend you’ll then rapidly gain it all back and then some. For example, my record for most weight gained during a weekend carbup was 18 lbs in 24 hours, all fat-free mass btw. In the past, when I find myself not dropping weight in the first few days it usually means one of a few things:
- I ate too many carbs
- I didn’t hit the weights nearly hard enough
- I didn’t eat enough fat
why don’t you post what you ate exactly and what workouts you’ve done so far??
The diet is below. I tweaked it a bit already to avoid ground beef as it was making me sick to eat it. When I did this I also lost my green beans.

Workout is Phase 10 of Men’s Health series…it requires 3 supersets of exercises and then I do some sprinting on the treadmill to the tune of 10 15 second sprints.
Workout is here:

Is this not enough of a workout? Should I be doing more? Lifting or running?
Thanks for your help…it’s appreciated!
You should be eating 18x body weight for the first two weeks. Only then can you drop it to where you have it now. I can’t say why you gained weight. Were you crash dieting prior to this? (i.e. sub 2000 cal)
There’s no such thing as precise normalcy in the beginning. It affects everybody different and you are not even close to being able to tune yourself into any long term plan yet. I agree with eengrams76, do it by the book for a good while before you start tweaking. If you’re looking for a quick cutting scheme, this isn’t it. Speaking of eengrams76, I was just thinking about you about a half hour ago. Wadda coincidence.

Nah, lol, I was reading a thread where somebody was asking a diabetes related question.
