Worked out at the Y today with my brother. Decent enough little gym! Definitely good enough for my purposes: old school, hard high volume training based around free weight movements. It really was a fantastic workout. Rest periods have been chopped down to 30 seconds and thus had to lower the weight a bit but man that pump was more fierce than ever! Hyped for another fierce pump with shoulders and arms tomorrow!! Forgot my journal at home so I had to take my notes on my phone unfortunately
Moved lightning fast through this session today. Went with zero rest between sets which definitely amplified the pump!! We’re really in nut cutting time with the show just on the horizon and I seem to be tightening up Day by day! Morning weight is at a prep low of 186 and same for daytime weight of 190! Only thing left to worry about is my pro tan arriving in time haha! If it’s looking bleak by Wednesday, I’ll overnight some cheaper tan from Amazon.
Last session before the show! We’re getting close! Carb up starts today! Feels good because carbs have been pretty low the entirety of my abbreviated prep! It almost feels crazy but I’m hoping for some nice extra full muscles to carry into the show!
Best of luck, Dave!
Thank you sir!! I can’t wait!
Good luck! We’re all here cheering for you!
Thank you so much! Hopefully I can make everyone here proud!
Smash it Dave, can’t wait to hear how you go and how you find the whole experience.
Hope it goes amazingly mate.
I am already proud. Good luck to you!
@simo74 @rugby_lifting @Friedrich thank you guys so much, I appreciate your super so much! I can’t wait to share my experiences! We’re checked into the hotel, I’ve got my number and I’m ready to rock!
Well got third out of three, but really not sweating it! Seeing the photos and video of my routine that my wife took, I looked even better than I was hoping to look onstage and my routine was exactly how I was wanting it to be so no regrets whatsoever! Had a lot of fun and brought the silver/golden era style to the show that I was hoping to!
And here are some shots she got of me alone:
One, it takes juevos grandes to get up in front of an audience to showcase your physique. Most excellent. Two, and this is an utmost compliment, to my untrained eye you are reminiscent of the bodybuilders during the Silver Age. The Pearls, the Reeves, the Grimeks. I bow in your direction. Keep at it, you are good!
That is truly the ultimate compliment sir! Those men are all such massive influences on me, from their training style, to their physiques, to their posing presentation. To me, that’s what classic physique is all about! Reading that has made my day!
I showed my wife the line up and she had some technical thoughts about the first two guys (shoulder to leg balance, calf to biceps, and so on. When it came to you, she just bit her lip and asked “He won, right?”
Absolute respect for you and what you’ve done.
Wow dude that’s really cool! Tell her I greatly appreciate the positive feedback! I knew going into this that my preferences for physique and posing could very likely differ from what the judges prefer. I’m a bit more Bill Pearl and they’re looking for more along the lines of CBum. Not to say I should’ve won, but I definitely met and exceeded the vision I had for what I wanted to present on stage!
I absolutely appreciate the kind words and support brother! I feel like we all feed off of each other around here and it’s just so motivating!
Dude you look fabulous, mega respect for the effort and keep up the great work! Your positivity and passion are absolutely infectious and I love that about you. Amazing job!!
That’s awesome, so happy for you that you got up on that stage, you absolutely nailed the assignment and came in the look you were after. Well done you played the way you wanted and got the look you were after, that’s winning in my book.
Serious props for putting in all the time and effort. Will competing be a regular feature in your life now or was this a one and done experience?
Amazing! Such an accomplishment! You’ve come a long way in a short period of time, considering preparing for the stage! You do look like a modern representation of the silver era bodybuilders. Personally, I find your physique much more aesthetically pleasing, than the other competitors (who look unproportional). This is the future of bodybuilding!
@pettersson thank you sir! I certainly agree! That is where I hope Bodybuilding heads and the best way for me to cast my vote for that is to continue to stay true to these beliefs and continue to present myself in a classical style regardless of what it means for my placing.
@Moonflower I very much appreciate that! I am happy that my attitude and approach to training makes a positive impact on people! Your words of positivity certainly give me motivation!
@alex_uk thank you so much Alex! I love that you appreciate the vision and am happy to hear you see it and believe I captured it! I certainly do believe I will compete more. I won’t do another show immediately, but I may squeeze another in before the end of the summer while my NPC membership for this year is still valid. I just want to have some time to make some improvements and sharpen my physique before I get back on stage.
