Davemccright's Dangerous Dave’s Diabolical Log for Density and Destruction

Holly crap dude. That’s what I’m talking about!! That’s a workout for your mind and mental Fortitude as much or more than it is for your body. That’s the level I want to get to. Every time I want to do better. Thank you for showing me this, this is something I’m definitely going to be keeping in my mind.

You’d do really well with Deep Water, dude. Nothing teaches you to dig deep like that program does.

That sounds like a phenomenal program from what I’ve heard. I definitely need to do that program. Going to that level and pushing the past the suffering is something I really love about training that kind of fills the void from when I stopped wrestling.

Great effort Dave! You are killing it. I have so much admiration for your mindset and approach to lifting and life in general.

I know there is something magical about those widowmaker squats, I ve done it within 5/3/1 program and reached 90kgx20 (my bodyweight at that time) but I can still remember how I was litterary scared entering the gym that day when program called those squats. And finding 100s of excuses in my head on the way to gym to do something else haha.
I know that I growed a lot in that period but injuries are chasing me now 4years later so I am still perplexed about trying again putting a heavy bar on my back.

Congrats on that 20 rep set dude!

I do want to clarify that I wouldn’t think less of you either way, haha.

I was really proud of my last squat session until it hit me that at some point I’ll have to do more. Now I’m just scared and wish I wouldn’t have done it lol

This is part of why I’m glad DC rotates exercises on leg day so I have a little time to mentally recover and reset before I’m back to squat widow makers lol! The thought does scare me a bit, but I think I love the gains more than I fear the pain!

@hogar thank you so much for the kind words! I truly appreciate it! I love the challenge of it but at the same time, it’s definitely tough trying to break through that mental limiter that believes I’m only so strong. I could’ve never pictured myself squatting 225 for 20 reps. Realistically, I have to believe and not doubt, that at some point I’ll be getting 315 for that. It’s hard for me to wrap my mind around but I can’t doubt it! I will become stronger than I thought possible.

@T3hPwnisher with a clear head, I don’t actually think you would, you’re a nice guy! But In the heat of battle like that, I had to believe you would. I’ve seen what you do with widow makers and I wanted to match that effort. That’s how goals are achieved!

Thanks Dave!
I also wanted to ask about your diet, through fortitude training and now DC, are you in calorie surplus(i suppose you are) and how much roughly? And as a consequence how is your weight (and bodyfat)progressing?
Thanks again, your effort is an inspiration

My diet has been pretty much the same as Fortitude, except maybe slightly cleaner. Except on training days lol. I am in a surplus, but I’m not strictly counting anything. I go pretty moderate to low carb on non training days and high high carb on training days. Every day I start with a protein shake with milk, whey, and powdered peanut butter, I have boil in a bag jasmine rice with a can of black beans for lunch, salmon Patty for my next meal, then I’ll go home from work and eat 3-4 whole eggs, and finish the day with a protein shake. I have my intra workout Plazma on training days as well as about 1,000 calories worth of cereal (usually fruity pebbles) with protein milk and then whatever else I’m hungry for.

There is some variance in there, but it’s certainly lower calories on non training days, around 2300 calories and then around 4000 sometimes more on training days. I just did a “mini cut” to help reset my insulin sensitivity because I’ve been bulking so long now. This has gotten my Bodyfat back down to around the level it was in my last photos. My weight is around 188 at the moment. I am going to be adding in more calories now that I’m adding in steady state cardio and I trust the lean gains will keep coming. Very very hard workouts with cardio on off days should have my metabolic demand very high. My appetite, weight, and strength are so far beyond where there were during my 30-10-30 trial.

Sorry for the novel, but I’m very satisfied with where my nutrition and training have been lately and I’m very excited for where I’m going as well.

I forgot to mention I also have a bag of isopure at work and I’ll make a shake any time I’m hungry between meals. I really want to push the protein.

Love it.

Thats awesome work man. High rep squats are just something else. Just remember Dan Johns words: you can always do one more Squat.

Thanks brother! That’s pretty much exactly what I kept thinking to myself, just taking it a rep at a time. I’m super excited to see what I can accomplish next time! I know the rep range is technically 15-20, but I’m greedy and always want that 20. I would really like 245x20 next time. No reason I can’t do it.

Get after it man.

Thanks man.
We have similar view on diet as well…just a slight suggestion that crossed my mind…due to those very hard workouts beyond failure, your very active lifestyle(+cardio that you are up to) and your young age, consider maybe upping the carbs. Carbs are main driver of hypertrophy and when in period of gaining, no need to be affraid of them.
Just my thought and something I am trying to incorporate now, although I am much older then you.

I have no fear of carbs! I love them! I generally try to consume the majority of my carbs for the week on the 3 big training days and having a ton of them. I think this is a strategy that will keep me more insulin sensitive. However, I do think you’re right, I do have room for more carbs and calories in general on the non lifting days. I thank you for that piece of advice, because the extra carbs will likely help facilitate more growth

Sure, no problem, I am happy to help you as you inspire me also for my workouts.
Yes, I didn’t mean you are carbophobic  it’s just that I put it that way as english is not my native language, I 've studied it in school and then, T-Nation is my main teacher haha…
So the point is sometimes my sentence may sound strange but I am doing my best to understand and be understood.
Thanks again my friend

Hey I think you’re doing great with the English! Honestly, if you didn’t tell me, I would assume it was your primary language!
