I don’t understand the obsession with this guy. Yeah, he has written some damn good articles and has the credentials to back it up.

Why are people on this site so obsessed with him? Doesn’t he have his own site?

Because at the end of his cutting phases he has ript abz and hyooooge guns.

Personally, I respect his knowledge and admire the determination it took to get himself turned around health-wise. He’s not the messiah though.

Apparently he turned right back where he was.

Again, I’m not denying any of his credentials. [/quote]

No, I wouldn’t say he “turned right back where he was”. Weight wise, yes right now he’s about the same as he was, but his blood work has greatly improved and he eats far healthier than he did.

I’d say for most it’s more admiring the guys dedication to completing goals (you should read his book, it is very good) rather than worship.

He also gained a lot of respect around here when he stepped up out of the blue to help make Phills “Test Fest” a success by offering to speak for free (he actually paid for a ticket) if a minimum number of people signed up.

I like Dave because he really put in a lot of time and writing on the Westside Barbell method of the years and continues to offer a FREE Q and A of some successfull powerlifters among other contributors.

He seems like a real genuine guy, and reading his Under the Bar book is something I do often. If he was still the 280-300 lb out of shape powerlifter always getting hurt and pushing the limits I’d still respect the man for doing what he loves to do and set out to do. The fact that he has since given it up and moved onto other things for his family and health just further cements my respect.

Hero worship, fan boy, whatever, I think he’s a good guy.

The reason so many people admire Dave is because all he cares about is helping others succeed in the field he is passionate about. The man lives and breathes strength training and has no reservations helping others achieve their own goals.

Same thing goes for quite a few others in that company. Go to one of their seminars and it is like you have gained a mentor(s) for life. I can practically guarantee that if I called EFS right now and asked to speak to Dave, told him that I went to the Boston seminar and asked him a question about something we talked about there, he’d spend as much time as I needed to clear something up.

I can tell you that because him and others (like Jim) have done that for me in the past. And I am not some huge customer ordering 5 power racks a year.

What is that old motto, “live, learn and pass on”? Lots of people do the living and some even do the learning, but very few pass it on like Dave. That’s why people admire and respect him.
