Dateline NBC's

Am I the only one who thinks this series is fucking ridulous? It was good the first time but seven years and a dozen-odd shows later it’s becoming clear that MSNBC is just desperate for ratings. Now it’s just prime time drama, a hidden camera reality TV show under the guise of investigative reporting. And I for one feel sorry for the guys who get caught.

The whole thing is staged to extract an embarrassing interview from the suspect. The highly annoying Chris Hansen comes out blantantly misrepresenting himself- naturally the perpetrator assume that he’s the girl’s father or some other authority figure- and basically forces the guy to put his foot in his mouth by giving an incredibly lame explanation for his presence at the house. Of course, nobody’s going to admit coming over to BONE someone’s daughter no matter how old the parties involved are, so there is nothing that a dude of any age could possibly say in this situation.

And then comes the big punchline, bringing out the cameras and whipping out the chat transcrips, catching the perpetrator in such an extraordinarily embarrassing situation that he can’t possibly do anything other than fumble around and make a complete fool of himself. And finally, after they finish getting his pathetic, desperate reaction on tape, they throw him to the cops for a big dramatic takedown in the front yard. Great job, fellas!

I am certainly not sympathetic to pedophilia, and I think the operation itself is good. But these predators need to be arrested and dealt with, not ridiculed with superfluous questions on national TV.

I think it would be great if one of the predators responded to Hansen by bringing up the incident a few years ago when it was revealed that DATELINE planted explosives in a GM pickup truck to stage a fuel tank explosion during a low speed accident. That might just prevent his shit from being aired. In any case it all just proves what the producers are really up to.

You are entitled to your opinion, but I for one disagree, i think anything that is being done to capture sexual predators, and get them off the street, or get them on the list is a good thing. And as far as feeling sorry for these men, no way. They show up to have sex with what they think is a 12 year old girl, so i think that a little public humiliation is called for. These guys are scum, but thats just my opinion.

That show is hilarious. A friend of mine even worked with one of the guys that got caught, it was a pakistani guy I belive.
What a loser.

You feel sorry for the kid fucking slimeballs that are caught? You suck.

These shows are bolth verry entertaining and mildly distuurbing.
I guss that for now public humillation is one of the best tools . that is untill they legalize A castration sentence. Mewhoooo hahaha!!!

no i’m not defending the pedophiles… slaughter them with the beefcows for all i care. just don’t show utter buffoonery on dateline and disguise it as something useful or insightful

So, which episode are you going to be on?

I think i understand what you are saying, but sadly news is mostly entertainment today, esp dateline. With that said, i think that if you are gonna go for entertainment, the fact that they are taking down sexual predators in the process should be commended. And we have to remember, legally this is rape, so you can make them look as foolish as you like, i feel no pity for a rapist.

Showing them on national TV may also be a determent for future pediphiles.

They should be beaten within an inch of their lives immediately when they enter the house. Thats what would happen if they walked into a house if the dad was there.

I don’t actually understand how you feel sorry for the guys that get caught because they get embarassed on TV.

I’m glad they get embarassed on TV, especially the people in trusted positions (teachers, preachers, fire fighters, etc…) that get caught.

And “seven years and a dozen-odd shows later” maybe you should just change the channel if you don’t like what’s on.

Did anybody see the one where the guy brought his young son along with him, i think the kid was like 8-10.

In my opinion, it’s the only worthwhile reason for doing the show. I too dislike shows where people are embarrassed or humiliated for the enjoyment of others. Not because I really feel sorry for them, just because I just don’t enjoy watching that very much. However, if shows like this prevent even one or two little kids from being taken advantage of like this, then it is all worthwhile in my opinion.

I feel like with all the exposure of shows like this, maybe there will be some of these cowardly internet predators thinking twice about meeting up with young kids.

If you want to see what real trash reporting is, watch Channel 9’s “A Current Affair” in Australia.

It shadows Dateline in the “unprofessional, misleading, outrageously biased and overall trashy reporting” department.

But I do love how Chasers make fun of them: - YouTube

Sorry for the hijack. But Dateline isn’t really that bad. Sure, it tries to shock, but then so do other shows of the same genre. Many shows (including some news casts)are not reporting so much as entertainment for shock value.

LOL…is there something you’re not telling us? The bias sounds like reaction formation to some.

I dont feel there is anything shocking about the show, or down right outrageous. The only thing disturbing is the perverts and the whinning they do trying to get out of trouble after they have been busted. They need to do a follow up on the perves and show clips of them getting assed raped by Bubba. Sick fucks, what would a grown man want with 12-13 year old girls?

They should get bum rushed leaving the house and have thier asses kicked.

That shit wouldn’t happen at my place.

Chris Hansen and all the cameras in the world wouldn’t save a perve on my property.

Yeah, and I believe that guy was bringing his 8-10 year-old as he was “suppose” to meet up with that 12 year-old boy he was talking to online.

Yeah man, I can’t believe that Dateline has the audacity to be cruel and unkind to individuals like this who just want to have some non-standard fun, ohhh pooey poor guys being made to look like asses oh man.[/lol sarcasm]

They’ve been doing that shit for seven years???

I saw one show where they caught the same guy twice. That was pretty pathetic.

Yeah, don’t you just feel so bad for the guy? Heh.
