I have a lot of female friends who are choosing to wait. It’s usually a religious thing, and I respect that.
The thing is, they have a terrible time finding dates because like-minded men are scarce. Also, the tough thing is, even abstinent women are still women, and just like anybody else, they’re attracted to men who project some kind of sexual energy. When a guy comes along who actually wants to wait till marriage, they invariably overlook him or aren’t interested, because those kinds of guys tend to come across as kind of milquetoast. It’s a tough balance.
I’ve seen it work a few times though. You have to be on the same page with the girl. It absolutely won’t work if one person wants abstinence and the other doesn’t. I know a very happy couple who are both sort of young conservative intellectuals, and they’re on the same team, and that works. They have a very structured relationship – date nights, remembering birthdays and anniversaries, lots of planned activities together. “Let’s just hang out” is fine if you’re just going to chat and then have sex, but if there’s no sex you have to be creative and organized.
The other thing I’ve seen from observation: marry young. That’s the flip side of abstinence. I never heard of anybody who was abstinent and waited till thirty to get married.
It’s a tough situation all round and it does make relationships harder. If you can make it work, more power to you.

It’s all kool and the gang, I actually agree with the first half of your post: dude decided to wait, why anyone gives a shit after that is beyond me…but seriously, if you don’t care what we all think, don’t get so defensive and call us assholes. It completely negates your stance that you don’t care.
