Wow! Glad you’re relatively ok. No holes where there shouldn’t be!
Overconfidence kills. Sounds like they’re way over confident with that arrangement.
Also, Roxy knows you need extra snuggles. Good Roxy.

Thank you! Yeah luckily no holes just an unimpressive bruise. ![]()
That or cheap? A lot of the guys on my squad were pretty pissed about it. This doesn’t seem normal for outdoor ranges; it’s too much of a liability.
Haha maybe she did. Dogs are pretty intuitive. ![]()
So a round went very close by your head and percussion knocked you out? or a round bounced off your helmet and knocked you out?
I’m very curious who fucked up and how. Honestly I wouldnt be taking the “nice” route here, but im not one to turn the other cheek.
I’m glad you’re okay. Do us a favor and dont try a second act, please?
Hit my head, fired from a distance.
I was wearing a ball cap luckily. Didn’t knock me out just nailed me right above the temple. No bounce, just a hit.
The range. Because I’d assume the people shooting long guns in the berms behind us are just using the facility as it’s set up.
But it’s set up in a way that seems pretty risky.
Thank you. I appreciate the concern.
Well, there’s no way to prevent freak accidents like that. It could’ve hit anyone, I just happened to be the one that got it.
Whilst I understand this response from a Health and Safety point of view surely the range has a duty of care to do what is reasonable to ensure the safety of people who shoot there. Whilst this may have been a freak accident the mere fact that it has happened would surely require them to put steps in place to ensure this does not happen again. You seem way more calm about this than I would be.
Yeah, I’m just not even sure what they’d do. And outdoor ranges are pretty weird. If you’re not a member there (I’m not) there’s no point of contact and you don’t really interact with the people who own or maintain the range.
I thought you were shooting in some sort of organised event or league ? Anyway it’s not really for me to say. I am just glad you are OK.
Correct.
The range is not the sporting organization though.
I took a big break from lifting. My body was stressed out: joint pain, ganglion cyst, CNS fatigue, a freaking head injury lol… just easing up wasn’t enough.
So after almost a week and a half off, I got back in the gym for a lower body session this morning. Is everything better? Mostly. I didn’t black out between sets (a thing that was happening constantly last month), lower body felt fresh, the wrist cyst is gone, headache is gone… only problem is an irritated shoulder. It might be impinged right now, but dealing with that is no big deal considering what’s good.
Working around an angry shoulder is easy during lower body day. Just don’t squat or deadlift.
Lower Body Sesh
It’ll be a little tougher trying to figure out what to do for upper body day. So we’ll see what happens. If you’ve got ideas or things that worked for you, drop 'em here.
Mini golf double date:
Admiring my husband’s profile. Also, his shirt has an excited possum on it. Maybe one day you’ll get to see it. If you’re nice and you flirt with him a little.
I wear these pants a lot. They’re in 90% of my pictures and I’m relatively certain ripped skinny capris are not even in style anymore, but I don’t care because they allow you to be cooler on hot days and warmer on chilly days. Ripped capris are the best temperature-controlled pants. You cannot convince me otherwise.
Can you just make upper body, band arms for a little while ? Isolation movement’s on arms should not impact the shoulder and hopefully you can find a pull angle that is shoulder friendly.
Are loaded carries an option ? Farmers or kettlebell carries are a great way to hit arms, grip, traps, core.
True. And also, this shoulder is going to hurt whether I rest or train so I might as well try everything. Bands are a really good place to start. So good idea!
I’m not sure at this point. Even just sleeping on the side of the irritated shoulder has been causing pain.
You know what though? I’m starting to think this might not be a true joint problem. It might be more systemic.
Something like this happened a few years ago where I had joint restriction and constant pain in the hips. And then when I got a prescription for progesterone, it all kind of went away in a week or so.
So I’m going to bump up my dosage of it and see what happens. Then for tomorrow’s upper body sesssion, I’ll start with band work and try some loaded carries like you suggested. Fantastic ideas.
Thank you for the advice! ![]()
Upper
These didn’t feel great, joint wise. Not sure if that’s because of the weird shoulder or the fact that I haven’t done them in a while. I didn’t start the workout with bands – as planned yesterday – because most of my go-to band stuff is shoulder/external rotation heavy. So I need new band stuff.
Felt fantastic. And all the hand/wrist issues from before are cleared up.
When your go-to machines are occupied or busted, you’ve gotta get a little creative. Also, it’s fun to do the same movement patterns with different equipment. Also, it’s fun to sit on the floor.
Another one from the floor. This was a staple for me years ago, but it sounds weird if you’ve never done it. So here’s what that looks like:
Bonus: You can use ridiculous amounts of weight on this and people will assume you’re stronger than you actually are. I won’t tell if you won’t. ![]()
Superset:
Pretty standard tricep work, but I did something kinda fun for biceps. So on one side, I held the dumbbell at peak contraction where your forearm is somewhat parallel with the ground, and then with the other arm I repped out curls to around 1RIR or just before failure. Then switched. If you try this, go a bit lighter.
Random:
It looks like a free ticket to the gun show. Damn girl arms and shoulders looking good.
haha thanks! That’s an older pic from back when I didn’t have any shoulder probs. ![]()

I can’t NOT notice that this quote says “the bran” rather than “the brain”, and I wonder if it did that on purpose in order to get me to stop and re-read it.
Or it’s talking about muffins.
Morning Walk Photo Dump
The “golden hour” did not disappoint.
Fall only lasts about 10 seconds in Colorado, so you’ve gotta take a billion pictures of the yellow leaves while they last.
Weird but true: When I was a kid I thought the color yellow was the worst. I had actual rage against yellow. But now, I’m in love with it, or whatever this magical golden color is. Colorado made me a fan.
Duckies.
This dock has vomit stains.
There are times when nature is so pretty I can’t even believe my eyes. This was one of those times.
The treat monster sat still for a prim and proper picture, but this one turned out funnier.
He got the treat.
Well yes, your bran will thrive with new muffin recipes. Good eye! ![]()
I am out of stars, but what a beautiful walk!
Thank you! ![]()
Come to think of it, those mountains look like the Superstition Mountains?
