Dani Smash!

eat eat eat!!!

nice work on the deadlifts and if you want a good example of a professional giraffe doing crazy heavy sumos go haunt Oro’s log in the 35+ forum.

That’s what workout music should be at a gym! Good DLs. He might have said something because of the slight curve you had in your back for the lifts. Hard to keep upright posture on the heavier weights :stuck_out_tongue:

Eat your way to greatness!!!

Nice training! It’s great that you and your boyfriend work so well in the gym together.

If the world’s strongest man says it, i’d definitely think twice about it!

Gosh, I’m really sorry ladies. I’ve been really lame at updating this log…

Training has been going great. I’m testing all of my maxes as I feel I am peaking in strength at this time.

Pulled 210 a few days ago and will hopefully set a squat and bench PR soon as well.

I probably won’t regularly update this. I’m way too busy, but I’ll be stopping in from time to time to update my progress. Happy lifting everyone!

Squats

worked up to 110 x 10, rep PR

Good mornings

Pendlay rows

Abs

lazy, lazy, lazy logging

Where did you go, lady? We miss you!

Anybody in here??

I’m updating my training but can’t promise I’ll stick around.

I have a meet coming up this Saturday. I expect some big PRs!

My goals are 175 squat, 110 bench, 245 deadlift.

I pulled 225 a few weeks ago, squatted an easy 155 and haven’t tested my paused bench. I’ll be sure to update when it’s over.

Stay strong ladies.

Good luck to you! I can’t remember your numbers from your last meet, but I know those numbers you listed above are solid increases.

Good Luck to you!

Thanks, yep, if I actually hit those numbers it will be a +100 pounds on my total. I was very conservative at my last meet and played it safe. I just finished using Smolov Jr for my squat and bench. I am absolutely fried from it. I plan on backing off a little after my meet and just focusing on building some muscle and taking care of my creaky body

Thank you everybody for the kind words!

This write-up might be a little more detailed than my last. I learned A LOT today. Mostly what not to do. Hopefully everyone can learn from my mistakes and get a good laugh at the same time!

First of all, I had a very late start to getting out to Albany. I did not have anything packed/prepared. Goon and I were kind of scrambling. Next time, I want my bag packed the night before so that I don’t have to worry about where all my gear is.

We somehow managed to get to the gym in enough time for weigh ins. I weighed 134.4. Goon was trying to convince me to try and shed two pounds to get into the 132 class. There were two other girls in the 148 class and I wanted the competition instead of just competing against myself again. So, I continued eating and didn’t stress about the number on the scale.

Squat
Warm ups were feeling good. I was nervous as all hell, could barely eat. My legs were shaking. I warmed up to a single with 135.

Opened at 145, good lift.
Second attempt: 160, good lift. Hard as hell. +5 PR
Third attempt: 165, miss. Never failed a squat before. Ouch.

Bench
Warmed up to a paused single with 95.

Opened at 100, miss. I failed because my head came off the bench.
Second attempt: 105, miss. Still not sure why. They said I didn’t listen to the commands.
Third attempt: 105, good lift. I followed the commands and it was very easy. I’m extremely disappointed in my bench. I definitely could have benched 115 today and I’ve worked so incredibly hard on my bench. I even texted Keosawa and said “I expect big things for my bench.” They were strict about the rules and I understand that but I think they were a little too nit picky IMO.

Deadlift
Warmed up to 195.

Opened with 205, miss. Didn’t listen to the commands. God damnit, I was too excited.
Second attempt: 230, good lift. (You’ll hear someone remind me “HOLD IT!” lol)
Third attempt: 240, good lift.

Total: 505, first place in 148 class. +85 pound meet PR, and +20 overall PR. There were two other women in my class and it was a close match with an older woman who pulled the same as me. I’m content with my total even if it’s not what I wanted.

Goon and I evaluated my performance and plan on focusing on strengthening my lower back and core, practicing with heavy singles more often and holy shit, practicing the commands. I would have had about 10-20 pounds more on my total if I just paid attention to the commands.

Sorry, this is so long. This is more for my future reference than anything else. If anyone actually did read it, I hope you learned what not to do. :icon_chee

I am way too lazy to edit that write up. It’s copied and pasted from a log I keep elsewhere.

Goon = boyfriend/coach
Keosawa = long distance friend who helped me out via texting

Great job, Dani.

I am really partial to reading meet reports. So interesting.

I’m hoping there is a video forthcoming!

Awesome job, Dani!

Cool!

You’re doing great, Dani! I got an adrenaline rush just reading it. And you can’t complain about first place, especially when the other women could outweigh you by 14 pounds or so. I’ll bet the skinny chick surprised em. Congrats.
