Damn, Look at Bale Now

he just didn’t do a movie for a while and turned into a lard ass. Same with Crowe. He was built pretty solid for Gladiator and then in that cop movie he was a total fatty.

It’s probably just a combo of getting older, getting lazy and not needing to be in shape to get movie roles
No, I suspect there is more there with Kilmer. That guy was on top of the world at one point as far as “Hollywood’s most likely to get laid before you finish reading this post”. When he did Batman, even though that may now be on my list of worst movies ever made, he was still acting like his movie roles relied on his looks. It was after that movie (who knows, maybe he caught shit for Robin and couldn’t get another gig for a while) that he came back fat as fuck.

He was an A-lister since 1986 when he did Real Genius…and then he fell B flat…fat.

I was watching MacGruber the other day, and it took me like half an hour.

‘Holy fuck is that Val Kilmer!?’

Maybe this happened, who knows I really think the last movie was The Saint, after that nothing for a few years until Diabetus Cat.

This made me laugh.

The Saint was my favorite movie for a while. I think that was right before they had chosen a new Bond and he was one of the people everyone thought might get the role.

“What in God’s holy name happened to the Iceman? He looks more like the ‘Red Beans and Rice Man.’?? Or maybe ‘One More Slice Man.’?? Or ‘More Whipped Cream Would Be Nice Man.’?? Okay, I’ll stop now.”

HILARIOUS!

He did some Broadway stuff for a while…but yeah his film career is slowly spiraling downward. He still gets roles, they’re just not A list material. Hopefully his manager/friend/family can give him a wake up call…that is if he wants one.

^^hahaha very true… especially Kilmer. He’s a straight up butterball these days.

I guess they got old and said “fuck it” to trying to stay “lean”… well more like stay not fat.
After playing Doc Holiday Kilmer I thought would just continue to be a major actor, WTF happened to him. Did he really just simply eat himself out of a job?
I believe I remember reading somewhere that he had issues with alcohol, but I don’t remember where I read that. Perhaps it was just a rumor.

He pulled an awesome Jim Morrison in The Doors movie…

^Long list of movies where his acting was A list like Prof said above, but after The Saint he dropped off the map. Tombstone IMO was the best performance as an actor with The Doors a close second.

Christian Bale emaciates himself again to play this role, I don’t see why he just can’t hold his muscle, I doubt the writers demanded him to lose weight for the role, and if he played the role with some muscle I doubt anyone would really nit pick that much. IDK. I know he’s a user in the film, but users do come in all shapes and sizes,

I respect the art of getting into the role…but at some point the body pays the price. The yo-yo effect actors put themselves through to play different roles isn’t necessarily too healthy for the body, I mean lose a couple pounds here or there fine, but blowin up to 205 and then back down to 150 or so isn’t too healthy. I’m just sayin.

Rumor has it that there’ll be another Batman movie and he’s going to have to get up to muscle carrying again…what abuse.
The public is enthralled with dramatic body changes for roles. It gets a lot of attention for the film and the actor. Even more true for women. If a beautiful woman packs on the lbs and wears bad/no makeup, she’s damn near guaranteed to get the Oscar nod. That kind of yoyo-ing definitely has to take it’s toll on the body thoug.

I don’t know why this always brings a little tear to my eye

Saw the trailer for “The Fighter” last night before I saw “The Town” and it looked pretty damn good. It was freaky seeing Bale that skinny, but it appears as if he is playing his character to a T.

Mark Whalberg usually comes off as a douche in most of his films, but “The Fighter” looks promising.

Bale was excellent in this movie. The movie was also excellent, very well acted by all parts. They even had a clip at the end of the real Mickey and Dickey in a bar and Bale seemed to be spot on with the real Dickey.

Did they say the name of the bar?

arturo gatti broke his right hand early in a fight with Mickey ward (there were three?) and late in the fight, after not using it at all for many rounds, bring the cannon out again. I ws 15, 16 I can’t remember, but those fights they had makes me feel bad for floyd mayweather, he will never be loved like those two. RIP Gatti

It amuses me that here, of all places, there are comments of “But yo-yo dieting isn’t healthy!!!” on tnation…where we look up to bodybuilders and powerlifters, arguably some of the most hardcore yo-yo dieters of all time when it comes to competitions…

Can’t wait to go see this movie!

What is the obsession with Christian Bale with some people on this site?

I remember a thread awhile back where people were saying that he had the ideal physique in batman or some shit. Same type of people who think brad pit was “THOOPER BUFF” in Fight Club.
