Straight Micellar Casein thickens nicely without any further agent necessary
It sure does! However, I like the gelatin because it adds an element of chewiness AND is a great way to get in some collagen.
Knowledge bombs asideâŠwhy is this thread so entertaining to read? ![]()

More red meat less white! Haha. But that does look yummy.
That sounds incredible.
Iâll also risk weighing in, as this has become the ebook thread.
Iâll still add this is a way, not the way. I did a carnivore period, and found it very easy to sustain, but eventually felt like I do better with a little added carbs. Iâm talking like a potato and a little fruit a day, though, not a bunch of processed garbage.
My reasons for emphasizing this point are twofold:
- Either way, there is going to have to be some mindfulness (discipline/ planning/ whatever word you want to use). I think we all should pick the way of eating that requires the least mental sacrifice and gets us to our goals, but convincing ourselves our previously unsuccessful methods will somehow magically start moving us towards our goal never seems to do it.
- The âgo-toâ dieting methods are all going to have a lot of commonalities (protein, sustainability, caloric control, etc.). In this case, I want to focus on whatâs coming out of the diet: itâs the processed food thatâs a drug, not the carbohydrate macronutrient. What I mean is, you wonât maniacally murder your family to overconsume a bunch of apples. Similarly, you could decide to knock out carbs, and still destroy yourself with a ton of oils, processed meats, heavy creams, etc. A lot of the benefit I find in counting calories is because of how the âbudgetâ forces processed foods out of your day; from there, you tend to discover you can eat more and feel better on higher quality foods.
Nobody does until they start paying attention to what theyâre eating and their body composition. You simply have to start and adjust from there. As @T3hPwnisher mentioned, though, thatâs not a critical metric with his approach. For anyone following along, youâve got to pick a path. You canât try to follow a little bit of a dozen roads or you end up nowhere.
I donât trying to dig into this level of biochemistry is going to help you with anything practically. If itâs an amusing subject for you to research, certainly have at it, but my impression is youâre getting in your own way with this stuff.
This is SUCH a good quote. We all think that weâre just going to white knuckle and willpower our way through, but it wonât last if we do that.
What I mean is, you wonât maniacally murder your family to overconsume a bunch of apples. Similarly, you could decide to knock out carbs, and still destroy yourself with a ton of oils, processed meats, heavy creams, etc.
I laughed, and then nodded. Absolutely true. I TOTALLY fell for the âketo trapâ of eating SO much processed garbage because I was convinced it was âgood for meâ because it had a little âketo approvedâ stamp on it. Vinnie Tortorich actually recently released a movie on this titled âdirty ketoâ that goes into that. Meanwhile, if I was just eating an apple or a sweet potato instead, even WITH it being plants, Iâd have been in a much better way.
Canât be a real keto with the amount of protein requiredâŠ
As for the fats, I can easily eat small jar of peanut butter in a day (~300 gr), but the cheap one in supermarkets is a processed shitâŠ
Aso there is sesame butter here, raw mechanically extracted, very yummy.
The raw nuts themselves are a problem as well.
I observed it halts fat loss before (eating them freely).
As for the sweetener, erythritol is probably ok, the liquid shit is cyclamat/ saccharine, but helps avoiding cookies, chocolate, pastryâŠ
Except for the satisfaction kick from the carbs âŠ
But here really helps the breathing (a little bit).
Mby I am going nuts, but I feel how more oxygen is needed to use fat for fuel.
It makes u kind of uneasy and tense ![]()
Iâm not saying any of this to be mean, but I think there are likelier explanations for labored breathing:
- Itâs a psychosomatic response to your own focus on it
- Youâre overweight
- Youâre overfull/ bloated
- Youâre having a legitimate reaction to the garbage in the food, not the macronutrient itself
Itâs alright little homie, everything will be OK.
It doesnât need to be.
I observed it halts fat loss before (eating them freely).
This is why I keep saying to avoid plants. You would NOT have access to this amount of nuts in the wild: youâd be able to harvest a handful of nuts maybe once a year. Making them into a butter would be absurd, and completely alien to your digestion.
As for the sweetener, erythritol is probably ok
For someone trying to overcome an addition, I would say it is not.
Do you think about bowls of plain oatmeal when youâre bored?
My mind always turns to combos of fats and carbs. Cake. Brownies. Pizza.
Except when Iâm in the throes of Thibsâ crazy-intense plans. Then, Iâll literally dream of Greek Yogurt with MD mixed in. Which strikes me as weird.
The ones with huge conditioning components as well?
That does sound good! But also kind of wild. I wonder what drives that? @QuadQueen any thoughts?
Cravings are weird, my guess would just be overall hunger due to the high intensity and possibly a need for a something with a different texture than meat/veggies. Thereâs also the âsweetâ component - so possibly a sign of carb depletion. Like I said, cravings are weirdâŠ
As I got deeper into a contest diet, I would ask my wife to go to an ice cream store and watch her enjoy whatever ice cream treat she wanted. It builds character. She always resisted, but I convinced her that watching her eat her ice cream wouldnât bother me. I was on a mission (as if I had to tell her that.)
When I did low fat and low carb, I craved this so bad. I wanted the warmth and texture.
It was a VERY stupid way to eat
No, legit just plain oatmeal
I know, I just wanted to share a picture of oatmeal raisin cookies because you mentioned oatmeal.
Yep. Fiready and Eternal Warrior, both of which led me to profound moments of clarity and introspection while on the floor gasping for air.
I think i got the idea from @RT_Nomad
MD mixes well in oatmeal, too.
