Cushing Suspended for Teh Roidzz

Dude, PRO football player, havent we all realized MOST of them use PED’s.

Hmm…disappointed…but it doesnt change the fact that the kids got talent

^this… who really gives a shit if pro football players use steroidzzz? I would bet that over 75% have used some sort of PED some time in their life and I don’t. Its not like this is such a stats driven “purist” sport like baseball… If everyone is using it then its till a level playing field.

He looks kind of tiny in that picture, could that just be natural gyno?
This is from his earlier years, maybe even freshman year.

I hope he leaves it up, loyalty above all else.

Yea I figured, but its been some time since then so I figure a lot of the muscle he put on was natural. Gotta figure if he was juicin between now and then someone would have happened

Yeah why would he take it down? He trained Cush for the combine and he tested clean there so why would it matter if someone he trained natty was later in life (albeit only one year later) tests positive for PED’s?

here’s cushing as a high schooler and doesn’t look like he has any gyno. http://sportsfags.com/files/2010/01/brian-cushing-lifting-weights.jpg

as you can see, the kid was a pure beast even early on. i highly doubt he roided that young.

So, a pro natty bodybuilder weighs in at 170 and is usually one of the biggest and baddest men in the house. Pro untested bodybuilders weigh in at 230+ onstage (generalization)

Now, obviously there are more pro football players, and likewise more kids playing football form a young age. But it is that unreasonable to say that many of those pro football players we see, tippin the scales at 5’10 230 (a la Rudi Johnson, LT2, Deuce, Zach Thomas etc) are all on roids? It seems unfair to punish Cushing because he was a bad example of roids gone wrong. There has to be a better way to resolve the steroid issue than the current war on drugs. Cause no one really wins
I don’t think being 5’10 230 (and let’s be serious, not in on-stage bodybuilder shape, so throw those numbers out) is enough to assume somebody’s using. I’m 5’11 and normally walking around at 235-240 these days. Does that mean I’m automatically on PEDs of some sort? I’m not trying to say these guys aren’t using, just that their size is a shitty argument (I would look at the length of the season, the injuries they fight through, and how hard they work day in and day out as better evidence).

Also, anybody else mildly peeved that he gets busted for a violation of the performance-enhancing substance policy, and somehow that automatically means steroids?

^ great point, I never even thought of anything besides steroids, pardon my ignorance (no sarcasm intended). Just curious, aside from steroids what do you think he would be on?

Pick one.

Admittedly I am unsure of the veracity of the source, but it was google’s first hit.

people have been suspended for unauthorized diet pills so they are under weight and arent fined when the show up for training camp. I’m not sure what else there would be but Manny Ramirez of the Dodgers was suspended for womens vitamins (supposedly used to counteract the effects of coming off of a cycle i believe?) There are different things but everyone thinks AAS right away (myself included)

Went to school with the guy. Never actually had a class with him, but the other football players I did have class with said he was a very big “anti-steroids guy”. My first thought after that was he’s probably taking some sort of PED then.

hCG is VERY different than a vitamin. VERY. For thopse in the know, its my understanding that with regards to Cushing, it wasnt a matter of if, but when. personally, I could give a shit. I watch the dude play football, not be a role model. Im sure he wil lbe fine once his 4 games is over.

You can find the up-to-date version of that document here: http://www.nflplayers.com/about-us/Rules--Regulations/Player-Policies/Banned-Substances/

There’s steroids, hormones, anti-estrogenic agents, beta-2-agonists, diuretics, some stimulants, and one or two things I can’t pronounce but are listed under masking agents. There’s a chance he could’ve taken a tainted supplement, too, who knows.

Could be anything from 6-OXO to testosterone to lasix to Phen-fen. There was a basketball player who got in trouble last year for taking DHEA (I can’t remember what exactly happened but I think he got a fine and a suspension).

The point is there is a pretty big list of banned PED’s - some of which are easily available, not illegal, and don’t really do much to actually enhance performance. But I guess I believe in giving everyone the benefit of the doubt and think they are innocent until proven guilty.

Unfortunate situation, the media is trying to crucify anyone who tests positive these. Personally I’m a cushing fan, and a Defranco fan, played against Miles Austin in high school.

I grew up and played high school ball a couple of towns away from where Cushing is from (my home town is the one in the Defranco documentary where the two British guys get off of the train). I hope Joe keeps the pic up on his website and I hope it all works out alright for Cushing, bottom line is the guys an incredibly hard worker and a great competitor.

also why is there a website called “sportsfags.com

I read the nfl band substances, actually skimmed…but let me get this straight, a player may get suspended, or be under scrutiny if he has sudafed in his system? shit what if he has a cold? OR a team doctor has to prescribe and over the counter drug? WTF?
