Going to a new gym in a strange area. Just plain weird. As the leading weirdo in the forum, I extend a warm welcome to the club.
Shoulders feeling tweaky, though my legs and back feel good. Taking the day off from training. Back at it tomorrow.

never a bad idea to err on the side of caution (esp for us old guys)

I can’t be old - my wife tells me I’m like a child at least once a day.

Don’t you mean ‘act’ like a child? I know I do!!! Actually, when me, my brother, and my dad are together, we drive mom nuts cuz we like see you can be the most immature. Usually, it’s a tie.
Off-topic:
I think contrast showers can be injurious to one’s health depending on how great is the acceleration and deceleration of the testicles as they get sucked up into your body.
The g-forces alone could make you sterile.
Just weighed my standard plates and it turns out that two of my 50-lbers actually weigh 55. This explains why squats and presses at home feel heavier than at the gym. They are.

BW = 187 and I have like no fat. I’m starting to look freaky in the shoulders (for my girlish weight, that is).
Mood: Not feeling much like training today.
Floor Press (from bottom)
165x5
215x5
245x3
270 1x8
Squat
215x3
265x3
305x2
345 1x8
Cheated Front Lever and row
BW 3x8 sets
EZ Curls
135 2x6 sets
135 1x2 sets
Notes:
Floor Press: I’ve gone from doing 6 sets of easy triples to 8 sets of hard singles. The extra workouts are hurting more than helping. Once again I went for too much and I was lucky to finish this cycle at all. Dropping the majority of extra work, except for overhead press extras and I’ll be scaling that back.
Squats: Need to get a few more warmup sets in there. Wasn’t really warmed up until the 4th set. It’s asking for something to break squatting a good percentage of max with not enough warmup.
Cheated Lever Rows: Vidded myself and I’m not getting my torso parallel to the floor. Fixed that in sets 5-8. I think I’ll progress anyway by bending the legs so the thigh is vertical but the calves are at an angle to the floor.
Curls: Nice and solid. With the volume scale-back 140 should be no problem.
In general, the Hepburn program has enough volume at high enough intensity that extra work isn’t needed really. I think that this is where I screw it up, always adding extra stuff and then blaming the program for feeling beat down.
I don’t get how you can do so much weekly volume and weight and not gain some lbs. You’ve lost almost 10lbs from your peak I think.
I wouldn’t mind being a bit thinner, but I can’t help myself. I consume about 50% more calories when I lift. I regulate that way I guess. I would be pretty lean if I lost 10lbs but I’d probably lose a little strength. I don’t see that happening to you. Seems like I can feel every couple of lbs up or down.
I know there are dudes that would like to know you’re secret because you get stronger and still lose lbs.
Giving you props, but I’ll bet you would feel like a beast about 15lbs heavier.
Ditto Oldman. I couldn’t seem to put on weight until a couple years ago (a year after I started serious training), and finally the huge eating seemed to take hold. 30 pounds later, and I’ve begun carb cycling. So far so good; I’m not losing very fast, but dropping fat, and maintaining my strength (what there is of it).
DCA is just a freak all the way around.

I’ll bet you’re right about that.

I know you mean that in a good way…

Clean and Press
115x5
135x5
150x3
165x3
180 1x8 sets (super easy)
Deficit Deadlits (6" box, DOH grip, clean width)
225x5
315x3
405 1x8 sets
Cheat BB Rows
270 3x8 sets
CGBP (paused)
220x2,2,3,3,3,2,2,2
The extra day’s rest was good. Everything was pretty easy. Still having lockout probs on the CGBP, but completing the sets.

FREAK! (In a good way!)
Impressive as always mah man.
Thats impressive lifting but I’m x2 on how you can lift like that and not gain weight.

I think it’s the combination of volume and frequency. I also have a few years into this now. I couldn’t have maintained this pace three years ago.
P.S. I’m also doing the exact same lifts week after week, so I think I’m nailing the groove on all of them pretty much by now.
Something to look forward to! Assuming I last that long…

Me and my partner at work had a saying. “Listen to what we say, then do what works for you.” We would tell apprentices that after showing them how to do a particular task. The results are what matters. Not how you got them. You seem to have applied that to your lifting. Nice work.
looking good tony. As for the weight, I really think you need to go on a strict ribs and ice cream diet. you have to eat a gallon of ice cream and 5 lbs of ribs every day. give you man-growth, no more skinny-ninny. great lifting too.
