Hopefully at the PWA Championships. They were in Sacramento last year in January.

Very happy with this sesssion. I’ve been working on 110kg on the snatch for a while now. I hit it after 3 misses on my 9th training day in a row! 115 here I come. I almost hit a PR on the front squat also.

I’m frustrated with my clean. I almost snatch what I clean!?! I’m going lighten the bar weight up for a while and rework technique for a while.
Super work in here, Crow. You have a great mix of lifts going on, although reading and converting Kilos makes my head hurt. I am just going to have to learn to think in Kilos.
Dec. 4-5, 2010 REST
These were unplanned rest days. Family obligations came first (going to mountains to cut down a Christmas tree, birthdays, church, Costco shopping, etc.). I feel well rested, with all my little aches and pains gone. I can’t wait to hit the gym tomorrow though! In the next ten days, I’m going to back squat 180kg, front squat 150kg, snatch 110kg again, power snatch 100kg, “relearn” the clean, jerk 140kg from the rack, and get my bodyweight under 220lbs. or 100kg for those who speak metric.
Looks like a busy 10 days. Get it.
Any idea what’s going on with the cleans? Missing 118 2 days after a 110 snatch? I’m pretty sure you could power clean that much without too much trouble.

Tell me about it! I’m frustrated as hell. After every clean session my elbows/tricep tendons are killing me. I have a little fear (Donny Shankle please don’t hate me) with any weight over 110kg. The problem is in my squat under and catch. I’m using too much upper body and pulling too much (over emphasizing finishing my pull), instead of concentrating on squatting under faster and driving my elbows up higher. I have zero issues/fear with snatching. I going to lighten to weight up and relearn technique using Pendlay’s progressions.
I understand about the “fear” on getting under certain weights with the clean. In quotes because fear is not exactly the right word, but I can’t think of anything better. I’ve started purposely cutting my second pull just a bit short of full knee extension. It has helped tremendously with timing and position on the catch. I grew up in the triple extension era. I don’t know how many times I’ve been told to “finish the pull” at meets. However, the weight seems to get to my shoulders much more quickly and easily when I cut it short. Same thing seems to make my jerks snappier and better positioned. I’ve not succeeded in doing it with snatches yet.

A solid training session. I missed 110 on the snatch, but did hit a double with 100 (which I don’t think I have ever done before). The clean is feeling better. No misses today and finally hit 120 again.

I have to take a couple of days of rest. I had to provide the sport medicine coverage for the Red Bluff High School Holiday Classic basketball tournament. I work a 10hr. day at the clinic, then go straight to games and get home at 11PM. So I’m not getting optimal rest or nutrition to train maximally.

Thanks, I was pretty excited about the 112. The clean is showing signs of improvement. I’ve made 120 my last couple of sessions. I feel faster moving under the bar. BTW I jerked 140kg from the racks yesterday also!
