since the start of the year I’ve been having troubles with my digestive system. It halted my training for about a month and a half finally got back in the gym a couple of days ago. Finally after all these blood tests then having to go in for a colonoscopy and the one where they put the tube down the throat, My doctor finally concluded I have either one of two things.
I got these results on Thursday, I went in with my mum after having the procedure on Tuesday. He decided to put me on 6 weeks of pills, If I’m still suffering he said I’d have Crohn’s disease. Now obviously I am naive and had no idea what it was, Mum was taken back(by the way I’m 20 and still living at home). I’ve done a little reading on this disease and know a bit more about it
now I’m wondering does anyone on this site suffer from crohn’s disease or know anyone that does?
My brother has crohn’s disease. Whoever that baseball player is, he didn’t recover from it. It is, to my knowledge, uncurable, but it tends to go into remission, which means it’s not actively attacking your body. It attacks differently in people, my brother just got really sick and had to be in the hospital.
They put him on mild steroids for a year and he slowly recovered, the disease went into remission. A bus driver i know who has it had to have large parts of his intestines cut out because the disease was killing them. As far as i understand, it’s not usually fatal if treated. Just listen to the eating recommendations if they give them to you, or you’ll get sick again.
This is just based on my observations, obviously if a trained medical professional tells you differently, listen to them.
