Cro Cop Joins UFC

I really hope they don’t feed Jake O’Brien to Crocop. Nearly everyone he has fought has a losing record…why not have Crocop fight someone with a little more experience? At least with A. Silva they give him a fighter, while not exactly great, with at least some experience against quality fighters. I’m not in the mood to see Crocop actually murder someone…

Maybe Vera in a year or so.

The UFC actually wants Vera to fight Sylvia now, but it is not likely to happen.

It’s already scheduled.

t think silvia has no chance.

Other than Sherdog, has their been any other confirmation of this story? Meltzer has said nothing. . . .

So, it seems likely that a deal is in the works (Cro Cop has backed out of his NYE fight for Pride), but nothing officially has been announced. Let’s not get ahead of ourselves here.

Everything seems to be “sources have revealed”. And Crocop is still listed as a Pride Shockwave 2006 participant on the Pride website.

Indeed.

The counter-rumours are that he will be fighting currently K-1’s Choi Hong-man at Shockwave. (a 7 foot kickboxer from North Korea)

It’s all conjecture for now, but hopefully the UFC theory is true. Cro Cop would be an ideal signing for the UFC.

It has been a crazy week for rumours and literally yesterday?s front page news is today?s garbage.

Yesterday we reported that a well placed ?source? from inside Mirko ?s camp reported that Filipovic had come to a decision to move to the UFC.

Here is an update? and for the sake of journalistic integrity I suppose we had better add a big fat Allegedly to the following?

Mirko Filipovic has spoken out about the current rumours plastered over all the MMA media sites. In his statement he said (Translated):

"I repeat, I?ve got an offer from UFC and some others organizations. However, I haven?t promised anything.

I haven?t signed any contract.

Soon, I will choose the best offer and I will inform the public and the media on the same day.

I don know who is claiming to be this “source inside the Croatian’s camp” because no one has more insight than me in my sport and business career decisions."

Subsequent rumours have come to our attention today that Cro Cop is in fact actually in the final stages of re-signing with Pride. These unconfirmed sources claim that the contract on offer is rumoured to be worth $2.5 Million per fight.

It is likely that if they have re-signed Cro Cop, Pride will make their intentions clear at their big end of year show Pride: Shockwave 2006. [/quote]

Cro Cop HAS officially said that he will not be fighting at Pride Shockwave. Pride didn’t sign Hong Man Choi, I’d bet my life on it. I think that rumor was started by fightsport.com which is a pretty poor source.

Indeed, nothing official is out there yet. Mirko could very well be playing both sides against each other. But all signs seem to point to the UFC at this moment.

We shouldn’t believe anything though unless Mirko himself says it. I think the MMA news sites got a little overzealous with some good, but unconfirmed, information.

There is only one rule about fightsport…don’t believe anything on fightsport…
