Well, if he wants an oly type squat he should definately break at the knees. As long as you do not know, where he wants to go, you cannot tell him how to go there.

I don’t have anything really set up. It’s just an idea I got about 6 months ago when I got addicted to strength training after doing bodybuilding type workouts for a little over a year.

Your box squat form sucks. It can be fixed

ditch the foam fag chair. get a real box if you can, or use a movable bench.

Break witht the hips instead of the quads.

I think you would be better off to just do free squatting instead of box squatting for now. Upload a vid of that.

Your bench aint much better

your not tight enough, get your back and legs very tight, it should be uncomfortable.

Drive with the legs more.

Okay, that helps. I threw my back out moving a couch on SuperBowl Sunday. I’m still recovering from it and I’m not squatting or dead lifting because of it. When I get better I’ll try and get a vid of me free squatting. As far as benching goes, I’ll try and keep in mind to stay tight and drive more with my legs.

Thanks.

pretty much everything he said. on bench pull your shoulder blades together and push your traps into the bench with your legs, then youll mostly be set.

with the squat, your knees are a little to far forward when your squatting, which usually mean you are starting the squat the your knees, what you should be doing is starting the lift by moving your butt back. In other words to descend on the squat stick your ass out, then starting going down. It could also be the cause of you having a really close stance. But since you have no videos of what going on from that perspective i cant really say.

Also about the belt. Most people where the belt lower when squatting and high when deadlifing, just search for some raw lifters on youtube, to see examples.

What the others said is fine to me. You seem to have the right mindset, and potential too.
Keep up the good work and the form corrections, and you may become big…
Cheers!
