Wow seriously, someones been watching too much TV.

Or else works with mentally ill a/o victimized kids and knows that expressing aggression at this level is very rare for a kid this age. Does it mean he’s a killer? No. Does it mean his daddy is raping him? No. Does it mean that something is off somewhere? Yes. Maybe the kid is on the autism spectrum, so has an odd manner (“creepy”) and also watches too much TV or plays too many video games.
He could think it’s funny. If so, someone needs to check this behavior (reduce negative media, increase understanding of others’ reactions to implied threats).
See? I’m sort of thinking maybe YOU watch too much TV and are erroneously thinking that Children of the Corn just, like, crop up sometimes. They don’t.
Lol, if he was gonna do something he wouldnt write dramatic stuff about it on the ground.
I can’t believe you guys are advocating that this is a serious threat, maybe you should buy more shotguns and move into a basement like rats; fear is endless.

Then, don’t let the kid in Irish.

First post over here.
I have no idea on what might actually be wrong with the kid, or how credible a threat he may be as an individual. All I will say on the subject is that a mate of mine, who is a scaffolder in his 20s, a 6’3, fit strong bloke, was stabbed by an 11 year old kid being initiated into a gang. This mate of mine spent 3 weeks in intensive care, was lucky to escape with his life, and has ongoing complications as a result of the attack.
Personally, a motivated kid is scarier to me in some ways than a motivated adult. I have dealt with some rough types, and I know how I go about handling them. If a solid looking scally looks to have a weapon, I make sure I have access to one. If they look like they could use it, I’ll use mine first. I’ll skip being reasonable and go straight to all out life or death aggression if that’s what it takes to survive. If a 10 year old kid comes at me looking for trouble, I don’t think I could honestly say I’d put what I know to be effective survival processes into action. I would likely underestimate the strength of his conviction, attempt to reason beyond the point where action is a better course of action, and I’d likely fail to apply a suitably aggressive physical response to the threat, again, because it’s ‘just a kid’.
In my experience, it’s bad decision making that gets you hurt, and often is a far more significant factor than size, strength, or even skill. Dealing with a small kid that is ready to kill sounds like a scenario ripe for bad decision making by an adult. It makes sense to take the threat seriously, and hope you’re overestimating the severity of the situation.
This is a big part of the problem - I know how to deal with scumbags, but ADULT scumbags. A kid who may or may not have some serious mental issues is a game plan that I’ve never run into before.
There really isn’t a good answer for that problem either. It is normal see children as something to be protected, forgiven, and not as a threat to be “dealt” with. No way around it.
The best you might be able to easily manage is to set up a few “signs”/triggers ahead of time that you and your girlfriend can agree are no bullshit signs of a “threat” instead of a sad story. This may be a kid that just needs a little bit of help, or he may be a problem.
Examples, but not a conclusive list:
Killing/torturing animals
Property destruction
Fires
Continued threats
Actual Violence
Now, I am not even saying that any of the above list means the kid is irreparably broken. I am suggesting that at a certain point you recognize that getting him help isn’t “your responsibility”. Keeping you and yours safe is. That way until those line gets crossed you are giving him the chance/being of sound character. Crossing the line means that rather than being “good” or “fair” it is time to be “not a victim”.

Robert A

Lol at you ridiculing someone who is arguably a bona fide expert in the area of mentally / emotionally disturbed children.
“Endless” you say?
Kind of like your ignorance.
BTW, not far from where I grew up, a 13 y.o. kid got hold of a shotgun, lay in wait, and murdered his pregnant stepmother.
But I’m sure that would never happen in your tough guy world, right?
And if it did, the kid would never show signs of his disturbance before acting on it. He’d be way too smart to do that!
Yea because a 13yo outlier who steals his dads shotgun is totally the same as a 7-yo who writes you’re a dead man. Because it’s totally the same shooting someone or saying you’re dead / i wish you would die. Because everybody who’s ever said that has ended killing someone… geez.
Next time you play with 1st graders you probably call the cops when they point at you with a toy gun and shoot. Cuz its fuken craze bro. Better call some backup too

Robert - I’m on board with this.
I’m more or less putting it in the frame of self-defense, where you’ve got that one over-the-line action - grabbing your collar, coming hard towards you - that means the assailant has crossed over to the line of real threat and you have to respond in kind with force.
Obviously it wouldn’t be with force with the kid, but I consider those things you mentioned to be the “GO” button moves that indicate things are beginning to tumble out of control and my focus shifts.
