Taking only 2 grams/ 5 days a week I use a very modest amount of the supplement. I plan to take it until I reach my desired weight, which will take me 5 months max.
First off, in your own experiences, how long have you been taking creatine for?
And can you refer me to any substantial or long term lab studies focusing on creatine’s effect on the heart?
I average 5g a day. On and off for about 6 months.
2g a day is insignificant to do any damage to the heart. I don’t recall reading any studies of creatine regarding its effect on the heart; but if you’re that worried about your cardiovascular health, just stack with some fish oil.
I vaguely remember a paper/study about heart benefits, the heart being a muscle and using creatine and the enhance ATP etc But I could be wrong. Pub med that sucker
badman, researchers have published some results on creatine and heart function, although “more research needs to be done.”
Congestive heart failure (chronic)
Cardiac creatine levels are reported as depressed in chronic heart failure. Several studies report that creatine supplementation is associated with improved heart muscle strength, body weight and endurance in patients with heart failure… Well-designed studies comparing creatine with drugs used to treat heart failure are needed before a firm recommendation can be made.
Heart muscle protection during heart surgery
There is early evidence that heart muscle may recover better and more rapidly after open-heart surgery if intravenous creatinine is administered during the operation.
Myocardial infarction (heart attack)
There is early evidence that intravenous creatine following a heart attack may be beneficial to heart muscle function, and may prevent ventricular arrhythmias…It has been reported that use of creatine phosphate may have a favorable effect on mental deterioration in “cardio-cerebral syndrome” following heart attacks in the elderly.
