You guys are hilarious. I’ve never been to that end of the gym. Isn’t that where they serve the fruit drinks and whatnot?

Besides, look who you’re talking to. I had to get a tutorial on the leg extension machine. Isn’t it enough that I’m cute?
Monday night’s it is right next to the room where the TiCat Cheerleaders practice if you must know.

why do you think you got the tutorial?

I got it from Court so it was likely so she could mock me.

Maybe she thinks you are cute. Maybe her mocking is flirting, maybe she eats at the Y… j/k court.

good work as always…the total numbers that you added for your last session, why did you start doing that? I know Charles Staley does that too.

Progression my friend, progression.

I will probably use weight and reps to increase progression in each session. I find that I tend to write things down, but what am I actually doing with the information I am capturing? The goal will be to beat last session’s total.
I think it is a great idea. Do you also time your sets? Charles says it isn’t improving performance if you took longer rests and took a longer time. yada yada…I see where he is coming from but I don’t agree in all situations.

I think the true goal is to map all the information and create some groovy do powerpoint charts.

Hmmm. Sounds very type A, do they always pick on you ddot? If you are a type a person, I can understand that though.

I’m only mocking him because I’m all about the charts and graphs myself. I like to quantify stuff.

In this situation, yes. Kinda, sorta.

I take 60 seconds between each exercise.

So for example:
Incline DB Press
Rest 60 secs
Rack Chins
Rest 60 secs
Repeat

It puts me in the same ballpark in terms of time.

There are a bunch of articles (4 to be exact) written by Thib’s re: Thib’s System. He covers all gammets/protocol’s. I’ve always been concerned with progression (as has 99.9% of TN’ers) but never been fine detailed about it and thought if I could be that precise with my diet, why not do the same with the training.

Ultimately the goal right now is to be as big and lean as possible in 8 weeks. I bought some calipers and will measure BF% tonight along with taking measurements. I’ll update weekly.

How good are you with the calipers? I’d like to get mine done but a lot of people use those electronic things that I don’t think they’re very accurate. My own scale measures bf and varies between 14-18%

Of course it is! Haven’t you ever seen Rocky IV where they chart Drago’s strength? It’s awesome!

Yes it was!

“I’ll break you”

Diet was bunk today. I was good until the evening, where I had a few nacho’s and some turkey pepperettes. I also skipped the gym last night in favour of a walk with the girlfriend.

She has been battling significant lower bacl/leg pain since November '07 with truly no answers to the cause. We’ve done multiple MRI’s, EMG’s, Bone Scans, blood work, cortisone shots, etc without getting a true diagnosis as to the cause of this pain. Last night she went to see an ART and was told her IT Bands are significantly tight and that it could well be causing the pain she is feeling. After her ART session she said she didn’t have much pain in her legs (besides the tenderness that accompanies an ART session). We spent the hour walking and discussing what she was told by her ART. She has another appointment Friday, so I am hopeful this will at least bring her some relief.

After the walk I decided to stay in and watch Game 6 between Detroit and Pittsburgh and was happy that Pittsburgh forced a Game 7 Friday night.

My body’s a mess. My right shoulder is tight from ‘pressing’ Monday night and that stabbing pain behind my right shoulder is definitely there. As well, my left knee stiffens completely when I walk. I can squat and lift heavy weights as much as I’d like, but going for a brisk walk forces me to take 2 Aleve everytime. I have my own ART session booked for Friday AM so I am hoping to at least start to get some answers/relief of my own.

Let us know how you make out on Friday. My knees were really bothering me quite a bit on Saturday just from standing around on concrete all day.

Did your gf’s ART give her exercises to do? Hopefully, that will be the answer for her and it’s something she can actively work on.

Injuries suck, I hope you both get healed up!

Ups and Downs!

That’s the title of this particular post.

Down because when I went to the gym last night my left knee gave me a ton of grief. I couldn’t squat to depth without pain and I wasn’t going to do quarter-squats (aka Power Curtsies).

Up because I ordered some stuff from TN yesterday around 2pm EST and I now have it in hand at 11am EST the next day. That’s pretty impressive to me considering it has to clear customs, etc.

So last night was Tuesday’s intended leg session.

Since my upper back is causing me grief when back squatting I decided to do Front Squats for a while. I knew there would be an issue when during my warm up my knee was killing me. I need to get this checked out ASAP.

My brutal leg session:

Pre-exhausted with Leg Extensions. Ran the ladder from 90-160-90 @ about 10 reps per weight (approx

A. Front Squats
(1 superset)
16 x 145lbs
17 x 135lbs
18 x 115lbs
20 x 95 lbs

I took about 30-40 seconds between each weight. The plan was to go 4 drop sets of AMRAP @ 195/145/95 but obviously that didn’t happen.

B. Seated Iso Leg Press
3 x 12 x 135lbs/side
8 x 160lbs/side

Left leg just not right.

C. Leg Extensions
15 x 165
12 x 180
11 x 180
8 x 195

D. Seated Calf Press (Pause at top, pause at bottom)
12 x 115lbs
12 x 115lbs
8 x 140lbs
8 x 140lbs

I decided to skip hamstrings all together since I am thinking my knee issue might be a result of a hamstring issue, since the pain radiates from the back of my left knee.

Thankfully I have an ART session tomorrow morning so I should at least start walking down the path to recovery on 1 or more issues.

Alternatively, he could just listen to your litany of issues and shoot you like a horse. Could go either way

Feel the love.

Diet was off yesterday. It was a long day at work which prevented me from getting in my afternoon meal. My total cals were at about 1850 (200g P, 100g C, 35g F).

I met a friend and former co-worker for a few drinks after work yesterday. Had dinner as well. It was a pretty amusing night as I also invited a current co-worker who has been ignoring the other guy due to some petty-like business issues.

Tim, my current co-worker decided to let go of the grudge he was holding against Sean, the former co-worker by bringing a cake to the pub which read ‘Sean is a big fag who doesn’t care about Tim’s feelings’. This is the best ice breaker I have ever seen.

Back on track in terms of diet today.

Also, I saw the Chiro/ART guy this morning. Seems Court was right for once, and that my shoulder issue stems from my neck. My C5 in particular. Had some traction and ART done and the disc is back in place and it’s now my job to keep it there. I have to do some rather ghey exercises in my work chair to ensure it stays in place. I go back twice next week to see where I am at.

I’m glad art guy was able to help you out. Did you put his hands in your pants or touch your feet? If not, you really are missing out. He really is very good at what he does… teasing him about his girl friend aside.

I looooove that cake. I would kind of like to hang out with your co-workers.

No man hand love! Although I am not offended in the least. He did dig into my armpit. That’s fun.

And yes, some of my co-workers are good shit. The rest are like me.

Did he say anything about your knee?
