Does COVID not need hosts? If everyone is masked, how would it reproduce or spread? Masks=no COVID. Or do you hate science?
I hate science. It’s coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere.
And that’s why the rest of us have to deal with COVID. ![]()
I honestly don’t see this as much of an issue if the vaccines is still effective in keeping ppl out of hospital. We’d still get and transmit it, but if it’s rendered as harmless as a bad cold, then who cares
Viruses and bacteria don’t really “care” how deadly they are, they only want to replicate. From what I understand, there tends to be a trade off between virility and mortality
Damn… this comes after the Australian PM has just declared borders are going to still be shut “indefinitely”…
Well… Time to make Aliyah…
Where are you? I haven’t found any articles about this. As much as our media loves fear-mongering, I would think it would be everywhere on the news here.
You know not every country is like Japan or urban China right? In terms of mask compliance or interns of say…culture, education, sanitation. Like, Asia just isn’t one giant group of people that all believe the same.
You have a couple of billion people and hundreds of millions living in complete abject poverty with NO education at all. If you don’t know where your next meal is coming from it is hard to stay home from work.
Not to mention vaccination of that many people is a nightmare logistically. They’re lagging far behind in many places, including Japan.
That makes no sense at all. Nobody here and pretty much nobody in the governments that I’ve been hearing from has suggested that covid will “be eliminated” from the face of the earth. The whole point was that it was meant to reduce death and medical system load while we tried to punch out a vaccine. We have several of those now, though not enough people have been vaccinated to think about herd immunity. The other point has always been that this approach won’t work if enough dumb fucks decide to ignore it - meaning either the masks or the vaccine.
Which, if you’re correct, is PRECISELY one of the key reasons people wanted to slow the spread in the first place… Lowering the chance that an extra contagious or vaccine resistant strain would pop up before we got everyone vaccinated in the first place.
Neither do I.
It’s beyond idiotic. No one has ever thought that masks were going to fully stop spread. No one has ever thought social distancing means it’s game over. Preventative measures. The odd thing is even if masks were 100% effective these dipshits wouldn’t wear them because it’s control and like the Holocaust or whatever.
I’ll say yet again how we ever got these morons to wear pants is beyond me.
Governments do. People also end up getting scared, which prompts more government action. In some places, the government uses these figures in the news to scare people into compliance. It’s all a big shitshow.
A virus with more transmissibility than the cold plus the cold in circulation also = more overall deaths from pre-existing disease amongst the vulnerable
We all end up losing money too. We’re Chinese. You know I like money a lot lol.
I’ll say yet again how we ever got these morons to wear pants is beyond me.
Dick size may have been a small factor.

I remember myself and others chiming in on pretty much this exact question (can we destroy the virus?) early on in the outbreak. We had an EXTREMELY small window to even think about that idea, and it was before wide community spread.

I put MY pants on… One arm at a time
Just like everyone else
Yeah, it was all just about reducing the degree of exponential growth with the mask wearing. Even a 10% efficacy rate when the number of cases was small would have prevented a substantial amount of cases today.
One dude was justifying his refusal to wear them because they only provided “80% protection”, which was patently absurd even though I don’t think anyone with half a brain even thought this level of efficacy was possible.

Yep pretty much. Same with the 6 foot distance thing over here… There’s no way in hell it stops everything. But it could reduce the likelihood of catching it and that by itself helps reduction of transmission.
Your point about exponential growth is absolutely true but a hard one to explain to some people. It’s entirely possible if we’d had better adoption of these measures sooner in the US 100,000 more people might still be alive. Maybe more maybe less, but mathematically it’s almost certain to have had a significant effect.
That being said, with our state and federal division of authority a true coordinated effort across all 50 states would have been difficult. Could probably have gotten entry points and airports but statewide in all 50 states would have been challenging without a top-down approach, and that would have run into constitutional issues.

Some of Ontario’s COVID-19 vaccine shots expire at the end of May, and pressure has been mounting not to waste them
I got on Monday the first shot, of Moderna. I was in the time range referred to in the article, but my second was supposed to be off in early September. I am a little bit wondering if they might contact me in the next little while and say I can get the second sooner, and if the AstraZeneca would be it.
Back to the story, it is an irritant that authorities are worried that a pile of doses badly needed worldwide might freaking expire. Damn, that is wasteful.
I am wondering who to blame, is it the provincial government here in Ontario, or the federal Canadian administration of Justin Trudeau. The General who was responsible for managing distribution is being investigated for sexual misconduct, it is common these days, and did anything to do with it cloud his judgement?
16 days since my post on what I thought was going to happen and people here have gone from short of calling me “chicken little” to asking if I had sources giving me inside information all this while since they’re now scurrying to make their own adaptions to their business activities.
FFS this shit has already happened before. Anyone who followed the developments last year could have spotted the trend and made a similar prediction.

Yeah this is absolutely irritating me incredibly
OpIndia – 22 May 21

On Friday, the Indian government asked all social media companies to take down any content that refers to an "Indian variant" of COVID-19 | OpIndia News
Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
You know what’s the problem with Indian media? They’re like lawyers who love self-deprecating lawyer jokes. “A shark tank in a lawyer’s office? HAHAHA!”.
Their own news outlets were the ones calling it the “Indian Variant” like it was some badge of honour while, over here, we were treading lightly by referring to it as the “South Asian Variant”.
Now Modhi wants to fully deny the origin of the new variant.
This shit is just fucking surreal.
Well boizzz, I’m booked in for a vaccination. Just wanted to share that on here #doxxed. Vaccination rollout is/has been very slow here to the point wherein some vaccination hubs are vaccinating anyone who wants to get one. I’m not eligible (under 50) and the recommendation is for anyone under 50 to receive the Pfizer vaccine.
Unfortunately we have very little in the way of Pfizer vaccine, with what happened in Taiwan and the government talking about vaccine passports I don’t wish to wait until next year.
Had to ask for permission through a registered MD and I made sure it was obvious I was aware of the risk associated with the current vaccine being given.
Wish me luck everyone! #bloodclots #verylittlerisk #hashtag
HAHAHA!
HAAAAAAAA
Damn, that is wasteful.
It really is considering there are many developing countries (and Australia) struggling with vaccination initiatives. If you don’t want to use them, at the VERY least start donating them
